Hello!
I'm new to this site but am after some advice please! My mother is a natural base 5 and 50 percent grey, she's fed up with colouring her grey and wants to just be grey all over instead, I've been doing full head foils and a toner but to be honest it doesn't look right it just goes yellowish after a couple weeks. I'm now wondering if I should do a full head tint instead? Could anyone give me their opinions on how to achieve grey hair without the bleach?

If she uses a blue shampoo the yellow will go away.

Purple shampoo to counteract Yellow. Blue to counteract Orange.

Thanks peeps. She's used the blue shampoos but it still just looks like highlighted hair when she wants to be grey like Philip schofeild lol I'd love to know what he uses..... Any guesses?!

P.s I shall try purple shampoo next thank you

I just call it blue shampoo even though it's purple , it's actually called sterling silver, in the Ag line or shimmering highlights in Sally's :)

The problem is she is only 50% white, Philip Schofield is closer to 100%. The issue is the other 50% is still pigmented level 5.

You can either prelighten the hair to very pale yellow and then tone it to a silver-ash colour, although it will always fade warmer when the toner washes out, otherwise she would have to grow it out and have a more "salt & pepper" effect.
