I have been bleaching my hair for 3 years now. But have shamelessly not been treating it well and it’s now not thanking me for it!
I am using this time to do some intensive care!
i have used Olaplex 1&2 as a stand alone treatment, and adding 3 in once a week now.
I have 4&5 which I am using twice weekly, I’m not using any heat, leaving to dry, wide tooth comb. I have also got Olaplex 6and 7 for when I do need to use heat again!

I am vouching to long term look after It, before I bit the bullet and purchased Olaplex, I was using redken anti snap as well as Philip Kingsley extreme elasticiser! And did see some improvement....shall I keep going with these on top of the Olaplex treatment?

I also use fanola shampoo but have got a build up, am I right in saying I will need a claryfying shampoo before my next Olaplex?

Is it needing moisture rather than protein? If you add too much protein, it can cause breakage. Normally, you’d only add a protein treatment once a week or fortnightly.

‘Build up’ usually refers to Hair being coated and weighed down with styling products or when it contains heavy mineral deposits from the water supply and needs a stronger deep cleaning shampoo to remove it.

Can you clarify what you mean by build up?

thank you for replying, it’s very weak and brittle... it needs moisture but strengthening which I’m hoping the Olaplex will give me.

I meant that’s it’s going a purple tinge because I’m using it to often and feels like it’s got a coating.
I read I may need a clarifying shampoo before I do another treatment?

What strength bleach mix have you been using on it? Have you been re-applying it to already lightened areas?

Purple shampoo is like a very weak direct dye and normally washes out over time. You’d only use shampoo once a week to neutralise any yellow tones. However if your hair is very badly damaged and the cuticle layer is damaged, then it’s possible that the purple shampoo has stained the cuticle layer and won’t rinse out.

If it’s weak and brittle it needs moisture, don’t add protein at this stage otherwise you’re liable to cause more damage.
Clarifying shampoo’s are very drying so I wouldn’t use that on your hair at the moment.

No worries.
I have been using 6% My hair lifts well, and no I only have it applied to the root, and no bleach overlapping.

must literally when I leave the salon I haven’t used the correct products to treat it.

I will stop using the protein and see how I go with the Olaplex and using a PK elasticiser mask one weekly. No heat ect. Thanks for your help :)
