Long sorry!!
Hey thought I'd post here as I'm only a beauty geek but want hair advice.
Ok bascially I used one of those home dye kits to try to lighten my hair while I was at uni (I know, naughty) and obviously it didn't lighten enough to my liking. My hair is almost black, I probably would say base 2 but I could be wrong.
So, I've let it grow out for about 9 months, it really wasn't far off my natural colour at all but was noticeable if you knew about it.
Then (here's the worst part) I decided to use loreal effasor to a) get rid of this colour and b) lighten my natural colour so I could colour ontop of it.
I got my auntie to do it (she's a hairdresser) but for some reason it just didn't take on all of it properly?? Not sure why, anyway I had a home dye kit - nice n easy dark ash blonde, to cancel out the ginger, which we mixed with about half a bottle of golden light brown as this is the colour I'm going for so don't mind a bit of red tone in it. This was fine and most of it went the colour I wanted. BUT obviously because of my scalp heat some of my roots went a bit too light and gingery and the colour did nothing? Next day I put a bit of semi permanent natural brown on those roots but obviously being so porous I didn't want to leave it on too long. Still not at the colour I want it but much much better.
My question is, can I get ash brown lowlights on these bits and then what would happen with my roots when they grow through? Will it be prelightened and then dyed? (I would go to a salon for this, I don't want it a complete mess even though I've already done that because I know each time I do the roots they'll be a dif colour!) or is it recommended that I put a semi permanent darker colour on it as and when I get bored of it and just let it grow out?
Supprizingly my hair is still quite soft! Ends are dry but they need chopping off anyway from my straightening habits.
Really appreciate the help! x
