Hello,
I buy the hair dye stuff from Salon Services to colour my own hair. I colour it copper, right now I use Copper Red Blonde 6.46 and mix it with 6% I love the colour but to begin with its always a little dark. I prefer when its been washed a few times then its more lighter. Is there anyway I can get the lighter shade when dyeing it? Thanks for your help!

Are you licensed?

Are you licensed?

No, I'm a trade card member at Sally's and I worked in a hair salon last year. I was given advice on to use these products from staff in sally's. I am a Beauty Therapist and have been dyeing my own hair for ages now. Loads of people do it.

Well I would go to a professional! But what brand do you usually buy at Sally's?

Sorry but no you shouldn't be colouring your own hair, seek a professional to have it done... Find a reputable salon.

I repeat myself all the time but would surgically remove your own appendix? Would you fix your own car? Remove your own teeth? No so why do your own hair? Never mind loads of people do it. We didn't put time, money (1000's btw) and effort into training for consumers to purchase chemicals that are dangerous in the wrong hands and colour their own hair.

You don't have knowledge of contributing factors to be able to colour your own hair really.

To add its site rules that we aren't allowed to give chemical advice to non-pros so you'll only get 'seek a professional' as an answer from anyone.
