Hello fellow geeks!

I am a beauty professional but need some advice on a few things from you hair professionals.

Firstly I have really fine hair and just recently it has started to break off at the front on one side, its not drastic but I noticed it had snapped a bit. I am so paranoid about my hair and dont want it to keep happening. I know its hard to get a good balance of moisture and protein, can anyone recommend any kind of product that will help with the breaking. I know using too many products can just be as bad for the hair. Just need some kind of advice and whats the best for my hair.

Also my hair grows but not very fast but the front bits of my hair just take forever and ever to grow and its no frustrating as they are never the same length as my hair, even had my hair cut shorter which I like but not the same as my side bits.

Also I use wella koleston on my hair, is this good for your hair and is 9% really damaging for the hair?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:) xx

Sorry hun but you really shouldn't use professional products when you're not qualified. It can really screw up your hair! xoxox

If you've been colouring your hair yourself with a product containing 9% peroxide and overlapping previous colour, it will eventually break off.

If you're trying to save money, get your hair colour done at your local hairdressing college where the students are supervised and the charges are usually not much more than the cost of the products used.

I am going to leave my hair for a few months, my hair is in fine condition just my side bits dont grow, then go to hairdressers and just get them to do it :)

Can someone give me advice on if using too many products are bad for the hair?

I leave conditioner in overnight about once a week, use a heat protection spray and also sfactor lustirizer for the ends to help them from breaking. Is this too much?

Thanks
Nikki x

I'm sure the products you are using are fine. Just watch out for silicone as it coats the hair and leaves it feeling soft but is not actually good for the hair. Your hairdresser will be able to do some strand tests (wet stretch etc) to see what the condition is really like.

I see you're a nail pro. As a simple analogy, think what happens to your nails when you soak them regularly in pure acetone. (or 9% peroxide on your hair covering the same strands.) Once the nails are damaged, you can make them look better using cuticle oils etc. but the damage can't really be eradicated completely as you'd have to wait x months for the damaged part of the nails to grow out. Obviously, the cuticle oil will help limit the damage.

Hope this helps?
