I cannot keep my hair straight for the life of me. I have tried dozens of different styling products and hair sprays and no matter what, within minutes my hair starts to flip out at the ends and gets wavy. My hair is naturally wavy/curly. It takes between 25-30 minutes to straighten it with an iron I purchased at a salon. Any suggestions?? I was considering perhaps chemically straighting my hair? My hair honestly will look great for about 5-10 minutes then looses all its shape and starts doing its own crazy style! Help Please :)

Are you using ghd's? have you watched the dvd that comes with them? It should not take that long to straighten your hair.
If it is only lasting 5 mins, are you certain your irons are working properly?

GHD is great for wavy hair!! You should try them :)

Do you have layers? I have the exact same problem! I switched hairdressers recently and she told me that my hair was layered wrong and I had nothing to way my layers down hence them sticking out! I have to grow them out now! I had the 12 week blow dry which helped a bit but have to straighten it sometimes still!

are you blow drying your hair as straight as you can get it, this will make a big difference in how long your hair lasts after straightening it, people tend to blast dry then wack the straighteners through hoping it will last, hair when washed then dried goes through alpha to beta state where the hair is moulded ie blow drying straight with a good brush, this sets the hair and then finished of with the straighteners makes sure the style lasts....your wont last if your not blowdrying it straight first.
mine is the same as i have a natural wave if i dont blow dry especially the front first then i get flicks too, if i blow dry first then finish off using the straighteners ..it lasts until my next wash
