Has anyone had drying issues with Creative Polish?

I think that the problem might be that we all have different opinions of what a 'thin' application of enamel is! What's thin to one is thicker to another, if you know what I mean.

I agree Sandi, Ive got to say my thin is so thin, you can still see the natural nail through, and it doesnt look to be the most even of coats, but then the 2nd coat still of same thinness evens it all out!

Same here, unless it's Vodoo and I had to apply three. If anything at times I wonder if I am a bit to stingy with it

Surely you cannot think that this is a CND enamel problem? I use CND enamels, I dont allow drying time in between coats, and my enamel dries quickly enough for salon use. It's a professional product, so to say that its not suitable for salon use is ludicrous.

I know lots have said you have problems with drying time, and this might lead you to think it must be the enamel at fault, but I along with hundreds others have absolutely no problem using this brand, so the problem must lie elsewhere.

I was going out last night, I did stickey, 2 consecutive coats of Rock Royalty, one coat of air dry. This was at 4pm, and by 6pm when I was going out my nails were dry, not just touch dry, they were durable dry. I always warn my clients that for 2 hours after application the enamel will only be touch dry, and I have never had any complaints, and my clients generally come back for their rebalance with the enamel in tact that I applied.

I feel quite defensive even though your comment isn't aimed at anyone in particular. As I said, I have left my tech's salon, gone through my day with no problems doing all I usually do and then caught my nail on something and pushed the enamel, it didn't chip, it wrinkled up. If I didn't catch it I might never have realised. I cant speak for all clients either but I have never yet gone back and complained about smudged enamel, I just take it off and reaply. I've been applying colour to my nails for the last 25yrs and undoubtably learned a lot about application on my course and from a tutorial of Geeg's but from time to time with some colours I have an issue and hours later its possible to catch it. Its not just CND, its various brands. In my case, as I said, its dry enough to be able to get showered, put my coat on, cook dinner but catch it or sleep with my hand under my pillow and its ruined.

has anyone tried using an electric polish drier?
i dont use one of these myself as the salon i work in is also a hair studio so as you can imagine i have to be careful with any small hairs flying around!
However,i thought maybe afew of you could benefit from them,or do you feel that they dont look so professional?

I do use it.
My client puts her hand in a dryer between each coat while I'm working on the other hand. It does help in some cases.. or with some polishes.
My China Glaze is completely dry after base coat-2 coats of colour- NSI Thermoshield top coat; once the Thermoshield has had its 3 minutes under UV light the client is ready to go and she won't smudge the polish after leaving the salon either. This never happens with CND.

I really like Creative Nail Polishes but one of my clients says she finds her nails take to long to dry, I dont know whether its the colours she has. She always brings her OPI Rapid Dry Top Coat and insists I use this instead and she finds this works well. She says her nails are really dry within half and hour.
I now keep a bottle of this as a back up as some of my clients tend to smudge their nails due to the fact they are in a rush and it seems to do the trick.
I do actually prefer the finish of Super Shiney!

Well, if you are set on using all Creative then why not use Speedy top coat? Personally, when I polish (no matter the brand) I make sure first the nail is clean and dry by swiping with alcohol pad. Then 1 coat of Orly Bonder (same as Stickey) then two coats of the color and then one coat of my trusty tried and true Poshe' top coat. I let them sit for like 2 min to set the polish then I fan them for 3 to 5 minutes, spray them with Solar Speed spray and they are out the door. Works like a charm every time. :green:

I did but found it made no difference, I do the same as you, (without the Orly Bonder, I used Stickey by Creative). It was touch dry, enough to "send them out the door" as you say, but it was actually only the clients that were friends as well that felt they could say anything to me. Then I asked other clients and found that they too had a few problems, but not always and not every client. Odd. And irritating.

I too have had some past problems with clients smudging nails that should have been dry.

This is how I've handled it....

I use 1 coat of sticky, followed by two thin coats of polish, 1 coat of super shiney, and my latest so-far-so-good trick, one last coat of Out The Door fast drying top coat.

No more problems.

Hi all i had big problems with cnd polish drying so much so that when i found i had a french polish booked in for a special occasion i panicked i popped into sally's and bought salon systems french manicure trio and this was amazing it was only £6.99 but it was perfect the colours were great it was the shimmer range and it dried so quickly i couldnt believe it!!! i definatly recommend this product you cannot beat it!! xx

Hi everyone

iv also had huge problems with the creative nail polishes drying so much so i changed brands and swapped to jessica and iv not had a single problem since:green:!! Although i did like the other creative products such as creams and exfoliants.

xxxx

I tried this as said to me by Samantha and it worked. I tried it with CND's NFS which always had sheet marks no matter how early I applied it in my day. I didn't change how I applied anything, all I know is it worked. Usual routine, Sticky, two thin coats of colour, finish with Shiney. Then instead of Solar spray I left it 4 or 5 minutes and dropped solar oil on each nail, I could even rub the excess in shortly after. Bedtime 2 hours later and no sheet marks the next morning.

This may or may not have been mentioned further back in the topic but as it worked like a charm I thought I'd mention it anyway

Just thought I'd pop in to say I applied a full colour on my toenails the other night,
Not a CND one this time I did the same routine I do with the creative enamels and it is a dark enamel too,
And its fine so far...two days and not a single smudge ....so I am baffled.
I only even have the problem on my big toenails though...I may just have a really sticky up nail that presses on my shoe to much lol..

I always apply solar oil to enamel afterwards,
I explained to my mate (in Emma terms) as to why I do it yesterday and she looked at me like I had just jigged up and down in front of her wearing nothing but a hoola skirt lmao

ooh gonna try that!!

I have found the CND polishes take longer to dry than others, I tested this out with Attitude polishes which seemed to dry much quicker xx

I have had some issues but most of it seems to be a case of my 'thin' coats not being thin enough.

I cant believe so many people have problems with it....i just dont have any of them....i dont know why but i just apply like most of you seem to do.
I use toughen up base then 2 thin coats then super shiney or speedy as a top coat. I do however use solar oil rather than speed spray as i just havent got round to buying it, lol. Seems to do the trick for me as i tell clients to leave it on as long as possible as it sort of creates a protective layer on top of the nail.....I cant remember where i read to do this now it may have been 'nail class'.

And that is all it is a case of. I have just stood back and read these posts but enough is enough.

CND enamels are heavilily pigmented and very 'rich' high quality enamel polish which is why they cover in 2 thin coats completely.

Those who do not know how to polish with them and who use them like ordinary old 'over the counter' nail polish will use them too thick and then may encounter problems.

They go on quick and thin and dry perfectly quickly and 99 out of a 100 people who use them do not have problems. So I'm not going to listen to any more bad mouthing from the 1% when it is so obvioulsly not an ISSue with the polish but with the technician who is not using it the way it should be used.

I polished my nails today in fact and used Stickey, 2 coats of Nail Noire followed by Air Dry. all applied one after the other, no waiting in between and they were dry enough to go about my business in 5 minutes and looking at them tonight there is not a smudge or dent anywhere. This to me is normal and it is normal for my clients. So just where do you think the difference is .. in my polish or I how I apply it?? I did not use solar Oil or Solar Speed Spray, although sometimes I do.

You should never try to cover completely with one coat. Always 2 thin coats.

i have just read through all this thread, and this is the way i apply cnd polishes
clean nail with scrubfresh
apply stickey base coat
appy a very thin coat of enamel
apply another coat of enamel i dont wait i just get on with it lol!!
then apply super shiny immediately
wait one to two mins whilst i tidy up, quick spray of solar speed spray or solar oil ( whichever i feel like using!)
make appts
( ive already got them to pay and got their keys out etc got their coat on)
see ya!!!
tell them to be careful for about half an hour
i dont have any problems

i think the trick is to apply the polish in thin strokes and i do no more than three or four strokes
if it looks patchy it will be ok after 2nd thin coat
hth xx
