Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help! 😣 I did one of my clients on the 23rd October and I've just found out they went funny the following week... ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1415989576.598889.jpg
It's shellac hop pop pink. I know some gelish can fade but I've never heard it with shellac! Have been using it for a couple of years now and never had this! I haven't used the bottle for a while but I can't see how that would make it go like this as I have a few bottles that I hardly use and like I said, never had this!

Has she been on holiday ? As the punks can fade with hot weather .

Nope! I've done her nails when she has been away and had no trouble, hence why im so confused!

I've had a couple of shellac colours fade and I my ow I'm not the only one, tho mines been due to sun and holidays x

I just don't know what to do about it, it's really playing on my mind. I think I'm going to put it on myself later and see what happens!

Yes pinks can fade, also tropix I have found, but normally only in hot sunshine holiday! It's interesting that you say you haven't used it for a while, because I notice that this colour "separates" & before I've given it a really good shake, when I look at it on the brush, it looks like this! Did you give it a really good shake!? It may be a chemical that she has used but most clients normally "never do anything different!!!" 😆👍

How old is the bottle? X don't stress too much it looks like she's had a good wear out of her manicure anyway! X

I bought it this year I'm sure but not sure quite when...it had a good shake and most definitely did not look like that haha. She has a cleaner so I cant imagine its chemicals or the like...soooo annoying!!!

Pinks, generally regardless of brand, are prone to fading in the right circumstances. She must have been in contact with something to have this effect however.

Does she swim a lot? As others have said pinks are prone to fading due to an unstable pigment but normally something causes it ie chlorine, deet in suncream, cleaning products etc

Nope never heard her mention swimming. Baffled. She ended up going to another salon to get them removed as I was away and apparently they've never seen anything like it! Going to put it on myself and give it a battering haha

I'd say something has come into contact with them for them to fade like this, it could be anything - I've only seen this when clients have been away on holiday and a mixture of chlorine and sunscreens have faded them - only pink bikini has done it though x

If she hasn't been on holiday, has she been using sunbeds?

Not that I've ever experienced it but could be the case?!

Let us know if you ever find the reason

she may have used certain lotions or creams that change the colour. i had theat with a client and romantique. they started turning brown at th tips!!

Definitely fake tan if it's gone dark at the tips, have seen It happen on wildfire x

Sunbeds is my guess

I polished some trainer tips with most of my shellac colours, taped them half way with black electrical tape to block the sun and left them outside on a plate for about a week. There was very little fading on even the pinks!
Sunshine alone won't fade them. I wish I had thought to dip them in the hot tub a couple of times! Oh well... It's snowing now so it will have to wait until Spring for my next experiment. I did take pictures of before and after but do you think I can find them now?

Again, don't have her down as a sunbed user...I still haven't got round to putting it on myself. It must be creams or something surely

Hey Princess sparkle,
If you would like me to send you some official info on colour fading from CND feel free to PM me your email address, or give s2 a call, they will be happy to help and advise you :green:

I have worn shellac bright colours like pink bikini and hollywood etc and gone home for holidays to the Caribbean for 2 weeks several times. I've been in hot sun, pools, hot tubs, sea and they have never faded. I really think this has been caused by a chemical she used without gloves - possibly bleach or some cleaning products. It doesn't look normal and I have never had anyone complain about fading like that either. You should try the same colour on your own hands for a few days and see if the colour changes - just in case it is a faulty bottle or chemical separation or something. I would try it out before another client requests the same colour or you bin it.
