Hi

I'm after a bit of advice.

I'm considering moving with my family from the South uptowards Manchester (between Stafford and Manchester).

My business is predominately massage (holistic and sports) as well as Personal Training integrated.

I've never lived up north longer than a month or so and I'm daunted by how easy it would be to bring in clients. To be honest, down south hasn't been the easiest but I have always moved around and found it difficult to settle so thats most like the reason!

Any advice or experience would be welcomed.

Thanks
Natalie

I live in Stoke on Trent, so a fraction above Stafford.
People wise, I believe we are very friendly.

Moving your business here, would be just the same if you moved to almost any other part of the U K. It'll be a new business with zero clients.
Again building your client base would be the same as you've done in the past. Adverts, word of mouth, leaflet drops etc etc.

Salon wise, rent will depend where you final settle, areas like Cheshire, Winslow etc I would imagine would be a lot more than Stoke on Trent, but your prices will increase to match this

New stuff is always scary, if you over think it sometimes you can talk yourself out of it, just go for it xx

I know exactly how you're feeling. I moved from Windsor to Edinburgh last October.

Looking back now the worries I had were really silly. Will people like me enough to book in with me? Would they prefer a treatment with someone Scottish?

It took me a few months to find my feet, but I absolutly love this city now. And work wise hasn't been any different, an managing to advertise and get new clients. Yes, the people are definitely friendlier further north.

You'll be fine. The first few months will be scary adjusting to change. But do whatever it is you normally do to advertise and you'll get clients. Good luck xx

I moved from Devon to Wigan and I didn't know a soul when I got here. I have a steady flow of clients after just a year and enough to cover my overheads at the salon. I'm glad I made the move
Good Luck x
