Hi guys,

I would really like some advice on how to go about getting a recognised qualification in nails (shellac ideally).

I know this will probably result in a load of negative comments but I've been looking at the forums here and respect what you all do so hope someone will give me some helpful advice. I've been doing my own nails for a number of years and then a friend introduced me to shellac. Well after watching time and time again in a salon I decided to have a go myself (this is where I get the negative comments) I bought the official cnd lamp and a base, two colours and top coat from the salon with cnd scrub fresh etc. I had built up a really good friendship with the salon hence them letting me do this and I didn't fancy risk buying the stuff from eBay!

Well having moved away and still enjoying doing shellac on myself, I would now like to get a recognised qualification. Can someone give me advice on what would be a good course which would then be recognised by sweet squared or other wholesale companies. It would need to be something that I can either do as distant learning or weekends only. I've done a few searches on the web but it's such a minefield and I dont want to sign up for something which isn't worth anything.

Thanks

Vic

hi, firstly the only negative i have is that a salon sold you the kit to do what you are doing, completely defeats the object for the rest of us but im going to leave that there!!

secondly you wont be able to do distance learning, cnd pride themselves(and rightly so) on quality training and this you cant get from distance learning and i dont believe cnd would accept those training certs!! so you either need to go to cnd and do manicure/pedicure and shellac or go to a local college and do manicure/pedicure which will then enable you to go to cnd and do a one day shellac course to start you off
