Hi everyone, I am very interested in starting up a Home Nail Course but I do not know which course to go for or where to choose one from!!!! Does anyone have any ideas??

I do buy nail products from Special FX and design my own nails. Now I would like to take it a step further, as surrounding neighbours really like the nails I designed. They have asked me to design nails for them which I have, some designs where for a wedding and parties.

If anyone could advice me or give me guidelines of how to progress further I would be really appreciative. I have looked at some courses online but unsure which are the right ones for me to choose.

Thank you

Jo :)

 Hi Jo,

I posted a thread last week about which courses to do, if you go to search and type in courses, all previous threads on courses will come up! Have you had a look at Essential Nails' web site, i know they do home courses?

Good luck picking, i think i'm going to do a Creative course in the new year:)

Thanks for that Emsy! I shall have a look at the sites you recommended and let you know how i get on. :)

Is it a nail art course you are after, or do you want to go on and learn manicures and nail enhancements, and how far would you be prepared to travel?

Well I live in Wales but will soon be moving to Manchester! I can drive to surrounding areas within Greater Manchester........

I would like to become a fully qualified Nail Technician, but unsure which courses would suit me best to start. I love doing Nail Art but want to broaden my knowledge of Manicures and Enhancements also!

If someone could give me a guideline and any ideas where I may be able to find such courses like this, I would be most greatful! :D

Thanks again

Jo :)

Hiya,

I'm not sure about home learn courses I'm afraid, but there is a Creative Nail Academy in Manchester and it has a One Stop Nail Shop there. Give them a call on 0113 275 0433 and they will send you some information through the post.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks Samoyed! I will give them a ring and make some Enquiries :)

I started with the home learn course, and thought it was a good place to start to find out if this is the carear you want to get into. However I think if you want to become a nail tech that can complete all types of services I think the home learn courses can be pricier than they appear to be. This is because they have broken all the services into separate courses. For example if you buy the acrylic tip and overlay course (which I did), you get a great deal of information on completing this service but thats were it ends. So when your customer wants infills you won't have any idea how to complete the service. To find out how to maintain nails you have to buy another course (even without the cost of the nail trainer its still expensive). To do sculptured nails this is also only taught if you buy another course and I think it's very useful to be able to do both tips and sculptured nails.

Although I can't comment on all nail courses out there I have completed my four day foundation course with Creative, on the course you cover Acrylic tip and overlay, sculptured nails and maintenance. You don't become an expert in the four days but the four days do cover many techniques that you can practice. There are many other course then that Creative offer to help further your knowledge and skills as a nail tech.

I have also had training from NSI which I thought were good and they also have a good reputation. They are based in Manchester so it might be worth getting details on their courses. I also like their nail art products. The number for NSI: 0500 131 009

Thanks Alex! I'll certainly chase it up, as at present some of the home courses are very pricey and i am unable to afford them!

Thank you all for your replies :)
