Hi all,
I coloured my Mums hair last night & it didnt turn out well at all. She had about 3/4 inch regrowth(quite grey) with slightly faded level 6 ends, she is trying to go slightly lighter gradually so I used Affinage Erasor for the first time(normally used bleach baths), i only gave it one application I wanted to give it 2 but she was pressed for time!! it lifted it up to a dark coppery brown colour, I then applied fine highlights 20vol (15-20 packs) then 7-57 with 7-0 (igora royal), surprise surprise the roots have a deep coppery tone now & the ends are darker - i dont know what I was thinking of! Im so angry at myself all day at applying those shades! Anyway im appealing to all you geeks out there to please help as I have now lost all confidence in myself!! I wish to take her hair now to a nice rich level 7-8 tone, she had admired the 7-50 & 8.50 in the Absolutes range today when I showed her the shade chart so that would give you an idea now of the shade she now has in mind. Really hope some of you great people out there can help! Thanks in advance:)

Anyone?????

Hello! Firstly stop panicking! It is so easy for colouring to go a bit wrong! I am sure you are more than capable of colouring and there is no need to lose your confidence! A similar sort of thing happened to me about a month ago and i was devastated! I was using red and never lifted the darker ends. I had run out of 10 vol so was going to dilute the 20 vol but completely forgot to dilute  !!! Obviously clients roots came out a bit ginger/red and the ends didn't take at all!! I nearly died!! And this is after 12 years of colouring!! I think sometimes it is easy to get into a routine of not really thinking things through and it is situations like this that reminds us to think about what we are doing!! It's also all part of the learning!! So dust yourself off hunny and don't doubt yourself! :)

Can't advise on that brand of colour, but used Affinage lots in the past, don't forget you must apply 1 shade lighter than target shade after the eraser as hair is porous after that.

Thanks so much for the replies folks, really appricate the kind words as im still feeling really bad about the whole experience! Fusion im just curious what brand do you use? And with your brand how would you go about sorting this out? Im just interested to get other opinions on how other stylists would tackle this. Im mobile so i really miss support from other hairdressers!:)
