Hello, I had a full set of highlights last night done by a friend who is a hair dresser. Now I've got brown roots blonde then the rest is a blonde ish / ginger colour!! I want to be blonde which is the look we are trying to achieve. She did put a toner on after which was a 9.1. My question is I'm not happy with how it looks so how can I get it to a nice blonde all over without messing up my hair? Xx ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1396770166.532960.jpg

I would go to another hairdresser to do it for you x

Definitely seek the advice of another stylist. Going blonde all over is a colour correction service and can be difficult. There is no simple trip to superdrug for a quick fix. Also mention it to your friend, perhaps she can explain why this happened, and she could even learn from it? I always preferred feedback from my clients its a learning curve :) good luck

Hi Julie-Liz, I rang her this morning and said I wasn't happy, she said the only way we can even it out is to put another set of highlights through, is this right? The reason why the bleach has taken the way it has is because if the box colours I had on before so it will take a while to get me to blonde, is this right? Xx

She should of told you what sort of result you would of got before proceeding knowing you had box colour on your hair. Did she take a test cut ??

Yes she did, it lifted to an orangey colour but she said that was ok as can put a toner on top xx

Yes exactly right. It will take a few goes. So you need to find a a middle ground you are happy with. There are various stages you go through to get from brown to blonde and your stuck in the middle. Maybe discuss taking a step back a little with the hairdresser, even out what you before edging more towards the blonde.

If your starting bases is uneven your end result will be uneven, so you probably started with your natural roots, then some other colours mid lengths and ends. By putting bleach on that you will have lighter roots warmer ends, which is what you've got.

What ColourGirly said. I have had client go from your shade and tone to a multi-tone all blonde appearance all over with full head highlights. I didnt just put one strength of bleach all the way down however but my client wanted other shades running through so we did colour combos. The inbetween stage is a little off putting but if you persevere u will get there. Going from dark to light isnt a one step process im afraid.

Thanks for all your posts every one!! :)Went to a salon today and they said the same thing, highlights and toner if I want to even it out but think I'm going to wait a few weeks and deal with what I've got! I want to be blonde I know it's a slow process so no point in trying to rush it other wise I'm going to really damage my hair xx
