help needed to stay on top!!

Hey everyone - havent posted anything for a while but I'm in need of.
The wine is chilling as I speak & I'm sure I'll come up with lots of ideas after a little tipple SSSOOOO - I thought it wise to seek help before I opened the bottle !!!!!

Here goes - AAAHHHHGGGG - NEW TANNING SHOP OPENING ON MY DOORSTEP - ADVERT IN WINDOW FOR NAIL TECH TO APPLY WITHIN - EEEEWWWWW !

I'm creative trained and proud of it and rent a chair in a busy hair salon.
Most of my clients are through the salon while having colour etc.
Now, I know that a bit of competition is good , but I want to stay on top and need a few ideas from any fellow geeks out there who've been in a similar position.
Should I make enquiries as an interested tech or is that pants ??!!!!
What d'you think - I dont want to lower the tone but I want to know what I'm up against!
Also - the florist next door to the new place has just become a client SSSOOOOO do you think I should ask her for a bit of info on whats going on ??!!!
I dont want to lose her as a client and I dont want to feel awkward or put her in an awkward position.
AARRGGHH - I think I'm looking into things a bit too deeply - but I'm just starting to build a great client base and would like to continue doing so.I've worked hard and I do feel protective of what I've achieved.
My god I'm starting to sound v v sad now arent I !
I'm off to open that chilled bottle - I'll be back in a bit to see if anyone feels sorry enough for me to reply !!!!!

i wouldnt go asking a client for info but why not pop in the new salon and introduce yourself or get someone to pop in and get a price list etc, another salon doing nails doesnt nesesarily mean you will loose clients as if you clients come to you they are obviously happy so dont doubt yourself hun im sure there are the ones that swap and change technicians but there are also lots and lots of loyal ones that will stay with you
