I Only Joined Yesterday So Havent Found My Way Just Yet Im Also Trying To Get Advise If Anyone Could Help Me. Iv Done Acrylics On A Lady Who Usually Goes To A Salon And They Use Nsi, I Use Sratr Nails And Vever In 18 Months Have I Had A Problem Like This, Prepd The Nail Put Two Layers Of Primer On (at The Clients Request ) Did Everything As Normal., And I Have To Say They Were Good Enough For A Competition, Lovely To Look At The C Curve Shape Length Everything Then 3 Days After Phone Call To Say That 3 Had Started To Lift, I Was Gutted I Have Now Bought A Sample Pack Of Nsi L&p To Try For The Next Time, Do You Think Its Me Or The Client She States That In The Years She Has Had Extensions On She Never Had Lifting Before What Do I Do? Pls Help. Lainey01

oooops...forgot...advise..!!! lol

Ok prep is the most common cause of lifting and although i don't do L&P i am sure its just as important...so talk us through your prep ans we can take it from there...then if thats all ok...some of the other L&P geeks could maybe help about it being patted down and not to thick, mix ratio being wet or dry..etc xxx

Hi, Welcome to the site Lainey01.....what a day you have had!!! I think we forget how big this site is and how complex it might seem to a first time poster......wait til you figure out geekmolians!!! but it will get easier.....

As regards your query ....doesn't it seem odd to you that this client requested 2 coats of primer? It does to me, I think she has had lifting problems in the past and seems to think primer will help....but she isn't a nail technician!!!

Primer is a prep booster, and 1 coat if any would be sufficient. Did the primer dry to a chalky finish.....sometimes if the primer isn't dry before you apply that can cause problems.....Seriously 2 coats? and is it an acid free primer?

I am sure you will get other advice from starnails nail techs who may have other tips and even from NSI, if you are going to try out your sample pack when you receive it......
Meanwhile....happy geeking.

YES i WAS GOING TO SAY A BOUT THE PRIMER SOUNDS LIKE THIS WOMEN KNOWS HER NAILS WILL LIFT.

WHEN DOES THE CLIENT START TELLING YOU YOUR JOB? IS SHE A NAIL TEC HERSELF?

SOUNDS TO ME THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HER ASK HER AND SEE WHAT SHE SAYS.

GOOD LUCK

Hi, I thought I would bump this one back up...Nailstyle went to a bit of bother to get this newbies question out there, and its not had much response....any of you Star nails techs out there with an opinion....greatly appreciated.

A big thanks guys for the advice you have given , the primer is acid free, and the primer was dry when applied the l&p, i think iv got the ratio virtually perfect, as i practice all the time trying to get it right, your right she isnt a nail tech, but has made me feel quiet nervous about doing them again, im sure these have lifted in the past, she said that they had used star nails prods before and then went onto nsi, and then tried two coates of primer through trial and error , but is there different types of primer as the one i have just got says that its super strength ?? im so confused at this moment in time thought i was confident in doing all the stuff im used to but she has taken knocked my confidence.
As for the prep side of things , i usually sanitise the hand and nails as well as my own, and the equipment, then gently take off the dead skin of the nail plate AND WITHA SANDING BLOCK just slightly etch the nail, apply the primer and then the product. im i doing something wrong here or what. help.....

Hiya ..I wouldnt say your prep was wrong..just different to some of us..myself included...I use cuticle remover to soften the cuticle and then remove from the nail plate...then citrusoak to remover the cuticle remover...then scrubfresh...and remove the shine from the nail with a 240 file in one direction (from cuticle to free edge)..would nailfresh help at all....? like i said i do gel so its a bit different...what does she do for a living...? would this contribute towards lifting...? are you sure you are not getting any product on the skin...folds etc...? xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your prep is right for hat you ahve been taught hun, bering in mind that thi lady seemed to know she needed two coats of primer i think she has lifting problems that are not down to you.

Don't wory an if she does come back make sure you charge her for the repairs dont do nought for nought in this world.
