Good afternoon all!

I am in a little bit of a pickle and would love some advice from you lovely geeks!! :)

My little girl, who is coming up to 18 months old, has eczema on her arms and legs. I have tried e45 and oilatum, both creams and bath products, but nothing seems to make a difference. I took her to the doctor last week and he said to carry on and it will clear up....the only problem is, its spreading. Now she has little patches dotted all over her arms and legs (when it first came up it was only a couple of patches on the backs of her knees and insides of her arms)

Before I go back to the doctors I was wondering if any of you had any other suggestions of things I could try???

Any help would br greatly appreciated

Hi Jenny

Essential Organic Baby repair lotion has won awards for treating Eczema, I got some for my Grandaughter aged 9 months and it has cleared her little body my daghter swears by it, you can get it online www.essential-care.co.uk ask for a sample .....

Good luck

I recommend avocado oil, it pentrates deeper than the epidermis, it works for my lot.

Avocado oil 10ml (it's an emollient, it's rich in Vits A, D and E) add 1 or 2 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil, I used this on my case study in Aromatherapy, she noticed a complete difference in her skin, and I now make her a blend that she uses daily and it has kept it at bay.

Hi

I can recommend a product called Dilo Rescue gel. Its made but Pure Fiji and you can purchase it online on their website, as well as your local stockist. The product is a natural product which soothes and repairs all types of damaged skin from eczema , psoriasis to sunburn. I found out about it a Pro beauty at excel last year when i was taking on their range for my salon.

My friend suffers really badly with eczema on her hands and she has tried everything and she swears after she used this sample they gave me, within 30 mins her irritation died down, the cracks in her skin were visibly better and so was the redness. I know this seems hard to believe but this is a true miricle cream!!!!

my eldest (3 now) had really bad excema when she was a baby, it used to weep and get infected as she always rubbed her face against her blanket from the itching, we went back and forth to the drs, trying varies creams and steriod creams etc none worked, they cleared it up a little bit, but it would still get inflamed.

My mum brought me a neals yard tub of baby balm, and cleared it up really well, so i brought myself the ingredients in it and made myself a cream from coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, and coco butter, few drops of vitimin E to preserve it. and honestly it made such a difference. and was far cheaper ;)

you can buy all the stuff from Akamuti ® - 100% Natural Skincare i always have a tub made up and use it for every thing, hands, feet, hair, excema, nappy rash.

my son had it at a few weeks old....the doctor gave me oilatum and e45.....which did not work. i went back and he then gave me doublebase moisturiser and it worked alot better.

Hi, I worked with a company called Forever Living. They are Aloe Vera based products.
What makes them good is that they have Aloe Vera as the main ingredient instead of water, so they are really concentrated and can penetrate right down to the dermal layer of the skin, thus also repairing the skin underneath the surface.
I used their Aloe Lotion (the blue one) on both my children which is a water based aloe cream and it worked wonders on both of them. Now each time I see a wee flare up I just pop this cream on them to stop it.
They also do a fab Propolis Cream as well for older children who may itch a lot. This is a lot thicker so is also great for swimming etc as it gives the skin a bit extra protection.
The success on my daughters skin is why I started working with them, especially since hers was on her face.
Also it comes with a full 60 day no quibble money back guarantee if you aren't happy with the results.

Good luck,
Jen x

I have a 1 year old who was practically born with eczema (well it is genetic after all & there is no cure).

We tried many of the over the counter products like Dermaveen and the like & we used hydro-cortisone creams but the eczema would just come back.

What worked for us was taking away any bedding and clothing that was made with poly (fake) fibres and making sure he didn't sleep with any fake fibre teddies & toys. Now his bedding, pillows and clothes are all cotton, natural breathable fabric. We have to make sure he doesn't get too hot b/c his eczema flares up when he sweats & the sweat is allowed to pool on his skin.
We stopped giving him any wheat and dairy (which are also intolerances handed down through genetics), he has soy milk.

As for topical application we use a natural petrolium based cream. You may find that petrolium jelly with a drop of chamomile and lavender essential oils work nicely as well - worth a try.

I cannot tell you what a difference doing all the above things has made! My cute baby used to look awful b/c he was covered with eczema and now he's not.

Another product we tried and like was Calendulis Eczema cream: http://www.eczema.com.au
On the site it says to purchase outside of Oz go to: Eczema treatment - eczema articles and newsletter newhost

Good Luck :)

doublebase cream from the doctor is what my son uses which clears his skin up in just a couple of days.

My son had and still has eczema - from birth so I totally sympathise with anyone who has a child with this. He was about 80% covered.

We went to regular sessions with the skin specialist at the hospital but tbh - everything is trial and error with this condition.

We were eventually prescribed hydrocortisone ointment (a thick jelly version of the cream) and a product called Eumovate (very strong to be used only when the itching was angry)

We used the eumovate for 1 week - twice a day (but not on his face)
then another week with hydrocortisone followed with a spoonful of piriton - and eventually it cleared and he could sleep :)

He is 8 now and it comes and goes and unfortunately has asthma.

I have found a product called SKINMD which is very good for these conditons - but everything is trial and error and there is no cure:irked:

Chocolate's right! Aveeno which you can get from chemist or on prescription. My wee girl's had excema since she was a few weeks old. This feels like a very natural lotion made with oats. It has no steroids or anything nasty in it. She's 16 months now and I've found if I put it on her twice a day she's fine. If I forget, then theres a flare up I use a tiny amount of hydrocortizone. I don't like doing this though so I try to keep on top of it with the Aveeno. I had loads of creams from GP and I hated the emollient ones. Please please try this, you'll be amazed.:)

hi, if the patches are dry you need to get wet moss from a river bed the rocks that are in the water along with almond oil you need to grind the moss with petsil and mortar till it looks like a brownish powder and mix with a little almond or olive oil till it is a paste massage to the patches leave on overnight water only to wash all the time, moisturise with ollive or almond oil,

This recipe has served this witch and her family for many many years not kidding it really works on all ages:)

If weeping patches you need the dry part of river moss mixed with mashmallow and no oil applied but the same process, and yes solar is also good but only on dry its the almond oil:)

hope this helps all of you.

It seems to be worked fine....does age make any difference in this solution. Just to mention i am also using some products from Fat Burners | Cheap Bodybuilding/Muscle Protein | Maximuscle | Monster Supplements from women category....does it help

My daughter started with eczema at about 8 weeks old it was all over her body & my doc perscribed balenium plus bath oil which I also used as a skin emollient & double base gel which can be used several times a day when she had bad flare ups I used a steroid cream. When she was 2 1/2 we found out she was allergic to peanuts & her skin totally cleared up once we changed her diet now she only gets a bit sore in elbow creases when she has a bad chest x

Have any of you tried Dilo Butter or Dilo Rescue Gel by Pure Fiji? It is AMAZING for any form of skin irritation, particularly eczema! Have a look here:-

Dilo Rescue | Pure Fiji USA

We use aveeno on my son as all others sting him :)

The Dilo Rescue gel is excellent as it the Dilo body butter, and the bath milk (I used them for my little girl) personally I would take your little one to a GOOD Nutritionist or Naturopath. I've been studying Nutrition for 3 years and have suffered from terrible eczema. I would recommend a good quality probiotic, vitamin D & cod liver oil. Reduce as many allergens such as dust, dairy, food additives and preservatives as humanly possible.

Another product people in Australia swear by is MooGoo...
I wish you all the best

ps I would avoid Tea-tree on a little one... it is a common allergen.

Hi Jenny
My youngest son has always had terrible eczema, tried cutting out dairy to no avail too. I can sympathise it's a very tough condition . We used to use a seaweed powder in the bath which really helped, it's called Aalgo you get it online. Well worth a go. He is 7 now and showing a marked improvement, we also visit a man made salt cave once a week, really good. Other simpler things, bathe daily with oilatum/e45 bath in, smothered few times a day in diprobase, always 100% cotton clothing and bedding, the best duvet we bought for him is a silk one, costs alot but well worth it. Soothed that night time itching.
Please feel free to message me anytime, Puraspace is a great anti allergy bedding site too

I just sat through a webinare with a Dr. Ben Johnson who said his proffessional product line called Osmosis has a treatment product for that particular skin condition. You might give the distributor a bell and see if you can't get which product has that speciality.

God you must be going crazy with all these suggestions haha! Elemis do a product called skin nourishing milk bath, they say it's really good for eczema and can be used on babies. It can be used neat on the skin as a moisturiser. I use it but don't have any eczema so couldn't tell you! But the products is as close to the skins natural PH as a product can get, do really working with the skin. Sorry I couldn't be of more help xxxx
