Hi geeks

I really dread leg waxing! Love doing any kind of waxing using hot wax but with strip wax I'm not so flash!

I'm using lycon active gold wax and it really gets great results however I'm finding I have to lay 1 strip down then take it off as if left to long its hard to get off! Some wax gets left behind its almost like it sets? The temp is good and I'm using a small amount of pre waxing oil.

After watching the whole ball of wax DVD where she lays down both legs with wax and then just waxes it all off I'm even more depressed! Lol

I'm finding leg waxing really tiring and a real chore :-(

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated or recommend a wax that can be laid down on both legs and not set as such. ( we can't get berins or Perron in NZ)

Also love the spatula she uses and can't source one anywhere!

I think the wax used in the video you ( and I ) have watched is a warm wax that doesnt set up as fast as usual strip wax, I have never used, it looks fab, I am probably on the other end and dont use hot wax too much, I have berins blue sitting waiting to use, I am sure you can buy the spatulas from berins website, and steralise after use, am sure there will be other geeks with more knowledge of waxes available in your area along to advise soon, or maybe contact berins/perron to see if they can ship out? xxx

Hi I had berodins sent to me in Australia - shipping costs were worth it.

Wow, so I was looking for the Dvd after seeing it in several links but its not on the cheap side......Shame! :Scared:

For me it's also the price that has put me off -what a shame, would love to watch it.

The exact same for me.

Shame no ones willing to sell if youve made use of it ....or are you :)

I find creme waxes fab for leg waxing with material strips. You can apply wax across both legs no problems also try using your wax at a tiny bit hotter apply thinly and really rub the strip. HTH x

I do my legs in fours so for instance i would do one half leg over knee and take off, then the thigh and take off then go to the other leg.

To be honest when given the choice most people are not that keen on speed waxing in the way a therapist covers a whole leg and then rip rip rip.I think they like a bit of a break. It makes no difference to time doing it in sections as long as you are not faffing about.Just be efficient in the way that works for you.

I have the Whole ball of wax and i have lent it out free and got it back from those i have offered to lend it to, but it is expensive and there has been some problems with an on loan system on here with 2 copies kindly donated by Collin going missing so i will only lend to long standing members i have a feel for .

The wax used in TWBOW dvd is Perron (Cirepil).

Apply your wax from under the knee to the ankle on the entire front of one lower leg and remove quickly. Make sure that your wax is as thin as it can be. Give the strip a good rub if the clients skin is cold.

I do legs in sections also. I find when I have my legs waxed I like the break as well, especially if I'm a bit sensitive.

Don't bother with the spatulas, it's curved on both sides so it's not easy to use - and it's really so much better to use a wooden spat and dispose.

Have you sent an email to berinswax.co.uk and asked about shipping to you? If you can buy enough to justify the shipping costs you'll love the wax, esp Berins Blue hotwax.

I havent used Lycon Active Gold so not sure but I do use Lycon Lycotec White strip wax and love it, i get great results and find its good for sensitive skin. I haven't had any problems with it drying or setting and i usually apply a thin layer (after cleanse and a light dusting of powder) on both legs before removing with strip.

With the lycon strip wax, for it to work as designed, it must be applied with a metal spatula, than you place on the skin on a 45 degree angle leaning backwards, as opposed to forwards when you're waxing with another strip wax and wooden spatulas.

It can be a little fiddly at first to get your head around, but once you do it's wonderful!!

I would really recommend getting a lycon trainer to come out and demo it to you, as it's a little tricky to describe.

HTH

Hey Kiwi, Aussie here... I'm using Active Gold and So Berry (after our last chat) in the roll ons for legs. Occasionally I have problems with it not coming off but usually when the temp is cooler or at least the client is or if they have a lot of dry skin. In cooler weather I find the creamier waxes better although you will go thru more of it as it applies thicker.

I fell in love with the Whole ball of wax video and waxes too after watching a few clips on youtube...maybe we should start a petition to Berins to strike up with a supplier down our way ;)

Oh, forgot to mention, DON'T use prewax oil under wax for the legs, unlike for other areas of the body, just some cleansing gel or powder x

Thanks! I know..us being down under we seem to be forgotten about! What creamy strip wax from lycon do you like to use?

Thanks so much to you all taking time out to reply..I have picked up some great hints and tips 😉

I haven't actually used Lycon's creamy roll-on wax yet, although I was using the lycotec strip wax in the pot for brazilians, underarms and face and it worked great. (Just started using SoBerry strip for these areas too and finding it a bit harsher on the skin).

I've only just started using Lycon again a couple of months ago after using Caron for years and they have the creamy and clear wax like Lycon and I found the creamier one a bitch to work with in Summer and the clear waxes (like active gold is) a bitch in Winter. Same with another brand I had tried years ago too. When I've spoken to the reps at the expo they've agreed that each type suits different environments/humidity levels.

Would definitely give lycotec a go though and see how you like it :)

P.S. Yes would love it if the awesome brands they discuss here on this forum would be available for us too without having to ship it from the other side of the world!

I use lycon and also struggle getting the wax on thin even with the metal spatula but never been shown this technique can u explain a little more x

I'll try my best to explain a little clearer!!

Basically, picture a leg in front of you!

Starting just below the knee, place the spatula on the skin at a 45degree angle leaning away from you and draw it down the leg toward the ankle. As you are tilting the spatula back instead of forward you almost "scrape" the excess off as you apply it.
This leaves a very thin layer of wax which you can then remove as normal with a paper strip.

As you get the hang of it, it becomes possible to apply it so thinly that with one dip in the pot you can cover a third of a leg in wax.

If you were somewhere in the UK near me I would be happy to come and go over it myself!!

We can all learn from each other, and as I said previously, once you get the knack, it's a brilliant wax that is effective and leaves no sticky residue.
