Thankyou so much for that I will try tomorrow and see how I get in because at the moment we are probably only gettin about 5 leg waxes out of a pot!!!! X

Please do let me know how you get on.

I haven't actually used Lycon's creamy roll-on wax yet, although I was using the lycotec strip wax in the pot for brazilians, underarms and face and it worked great. (Just started using SoBerry strip for these areas too and finding it a bit harsher on the skin).

I've only just started using Lycon again a couple of months ago after using Caron for years and they have the creamy and clear wax like Lycon and I found the creamier one a bitch to work with in Summer and the clear waxes (like active gold is) a bitch in Winter. Same with another brand I had tried years ago too. When I've spoken to the reps at the expo they've agreed that each type suits different environments/humidity levels.

Would definitely give lycotec a go though and see how you like it :)

P.S. Yes would love it if the awesome brands they discuss here on this forum would be available for us too without having to ship it from the other side of the world!

I've been going backwards and foward between lycon and Caron as I believe they are the two best waxes available to NZ and auz.

I was using romance and brilliance hot wax and loved them but sometimes found they took ages to set! What waxes did you love from the Caron range?

Thanks auzzie x

I agree, an that is why i stopped using Caron hot waxes, they take way too long to set in my opinion. I used Brilliance and Strawberry Deluxe and found them both the same. And they were crap for facial waxing as they didn't pick up downy hair so that is when I was trained in salon to strip wax on the face but we always used creamy strip waxes with titanium so it was gentle still.

The last salon that I was using hot waxes completely we used the following... Lycojet is great for facial hair but you need to work quickly otherwise it snaps. For brazilians and u/arms I've used Mancine (a creamy rose coloured one, can't remember the name) and that was a better setting wax but will snap if you leave it to dry fully but great if you work fast. I really need to get back into hot waxing but strip is so easy and cheap!

Happy New Year Kiwi! xx

I'll try my best to explain a little clearer!!

Basically, picture a leg in front of you!

Starting just below the knee, place the spatula on the skin at a 45degree angle leaning towards you and draw it down the leg toward the ankle. As you are tilting the spatula forward instead of back, you almost "scrape" the excess off as you apply it.
This leaves a very thin layer of wax which you can then remove as normal with a paper strip.

As you get the hang of it, it becomes possible to apply it so thinly that with one dip in the pot you can cover a third of a leg in wax.

If you were somewhere in the UK near me I would be happy to come and go over it myself!!

We can all learn from each other, and as I said previously, once you get the knack, it's a brilliant wax that is effective and leaves no sticky residue.
Is this not the standard way people are taught to apply wax? This is how we are taught in Australia regardless of the brand used. Pretty much every beauty therapist I know does this.

Are beauty therapists in the UK taught different to this?

*I have edited this post as I explained everything backwards in my post festivities blur!!*
We are taught to tilt the spatula at a 45 degree angle towards from you, so leaning forwards. I have tried the "lycon" leaning backwards method with a standard creme wax with both a wooden and a metal spatula and it was rubbish!! With the lycon strip wax it gets really fluid at a lower temperature which is why it flows better with the metal spatula, also, the metal holds the heat so you can spread further.

It goes to show you take for granted something you don't know any different. Although I'm about to give a roller system a go when it gets delivered. They only do 4 cartridges at the moment so I might have to try them all and see what I like.

In other Lycon news, they are developing their own rapid spray tan - Lyco-Bronze. Shall have to try it when it's released.

Oh my goodness!! I owe you all an apology!!

I've just read back over what I've posted and I've been totally backward in what I've said!! I blame the hecticness of Christmas and new year!!

With Lycon strip wax you tilt the spatula AWAY from you and allow the wax to run down the spatula and onto the leg as you draw it towards you, almost like you're scraping it off, this is what gets it so thin.

With standard wax you tilt the spatula TOWARDS you and you drag the wax down the leg as you draw it from knee to ankle (for example)

I'm so sorry if I've caused confusion, just goes to show it becomes second nature and you forget how you do it when you just do it!!

Sorry!!

Wow, so I was looking for the Dvd after seeing it in several links but its not on the cheap side......Shame! :Scared:

It is now available VAT free if that helps

Interesting!
Do you happen to know where from?
Thanks
