Hi all, I’ve been hving full head bleach highlights for few years and decided to throw a high lift tint all over as just wanted one colour. I put Wella 12/16 on and I ended up with purple ends and bright yellow roots. Done a little bleach shampoo and now my ends are a decent blonde/silver colour but my roots are still very yellow. Any ideas what I can put on?

Are you a fully qualified hairdresser?
I only ask because I don’t understand why you would even consider putting a highlift tint over existing bleach highlights and that the outcome you got was entirely predictable, so it seems a bit odd that you are actually surprised.

Yes I am ... but I have been out of work for a few years due to having kids and to be honest I was never fully confident with selections colours for my own hair and always had guidance! It’s ****** comments from people like you that knock peoples confidence and make them not want to ask for help.
I didn’t put the tint over he highlights I put it on much roots and then at the end just pulled it through. Like I also said I have corrected the ends of my hair just still have yellow roots

You will need to lift the roots more and then tone to create the same colour you have on the ends, or you can tone the roots and create a root blend with a darker shade. What is your natural base colour and what was the level of the ends?

Thanks for the reply! My natural base is a level 7 .. I always go for an ash blonde so I have highlights toned with 10/16 and 9/1. My ends now are an ashy silver blonde colour which I really like it’s just my yellow glow roots that I need to fix, I don’t want to bleach my roots though

Unfortunately you're gonna have to bleach your roots as they aren't light enough to get the blonde you want, evidenced by the fact 10/16 and 9/1 are still yellow. Once you have bleached and toned, if you're a natural base 7, in future you can use 12/81 or 12/89 w/ 12% on your roots. They have pearl in which will help neutralise more warmth as it lifts. I find anything that doesn't have pearl/blue in when lifting ends up very warm, because violet is a secondary colour and blue is a primary so it has much more neutralising power.

Please don't ever put highlift tint over bleached hair, it has a higher ammonia content which will eventually cause a lot of damage especially if used with 12%. Even if you are just pulling it through for 5 mins.

Good luck!

Sorry just read your last post properly, ignore me talking about 10/16 and 9/1 as I thought you said you'd toned with it and its still yellow! Regardless its probably not light enough if its yellow glow so my advice still applies.
