Hi guys, I'm popping over from the nail forum....
I get blonde highlights every 2-3 months but I've had them done a couple of days ago and when I washed my hair some parts of it are frazzled. The hairdresser asked if I wanted the foils put through some lengths to brighten it and I said no, not unless you think so. So what happened here and what should I do? I'm not a hair dresser but try using some deep conditioning treatments and maybe go back and have an inch cut off. I use coconut oil twice a week, I leave it on all night and then wash out the next day and I find that it makes my hair feel less dry. X

Thanks, I do use coconut oil and condition my hair regularly but my concern is that this is past the point of conditioning. I've already had it cut and I'm trying to keep it all at the same length so do I now need these parts cut off?

How long have you been having Highlights?
2-3 months isnt over doing it so it seems very strange.
Has there been a change in products used?
Just keep a good conditioning routine going and get regular cuts

x

I personally would recommend you to revisit the salon that has performed the service and show them your concerns. Maybe call first and arrange for the colourist to look at your hair. It's hard to see from the photo but maybe over processed? Or have you used straighteners/ curling iron since having your hair highlighted? Good luck

Ouch!!!! That is over processed, they need to see this and offer you free trims and treatments until condition is back. X

Thanks for your advice, that's what I thought! I hardly use heat appliances and nothing has changed since I've had them done and the foils were left in longer than usual so if it is over processed I'd be right in complaining? The rest is fine, just a few scattered pieces I don't know why she would put more foils over previously highlighted lengths.

Here's a pic to make it a bit clearer, the rest is fine except for a few of these frazzled parts!

I would definetly be going back in and having a word. That is overprocessed in my opinion. Shouldn't have been taken through to the ends of your hair. Moroccan oil treatment and oil will help with this, it will at least make it feel more moisturised. Good luck x

so she obviously only took it through on the odd foil, once hair is lightened its lightened, only a toner needs to go through the length if needed. Get back in there for deep conditioning treatments, that's the least they can do x

it could also be heat damage

Looks like she has bleached it and put more bleach on the ends when you should never put bleach on bleach

Just letting you all know I went back to the salon, they apologised and put a treatment in my hair and we went over my home care routine. It was over processed, not heat damaged. Thank you for the advice given, much appreciated :)
