Hi there

Can someone clarify something for me kindly

I use the schwarzkopf igora range.
I have a lady, shes a natural level 7. But I use level 8 on her.
I want to update her look now her roots are showing and her hair colour is due; possibly put some thin blonde highlights; half a head.

I am thinking I use Igora Vario Blond with 3% developer? or should I use 6% developer? to lift hair, and deposit desired tint afterwards

Obviously I am working on previous coloured hair

I will do a strand test!

Please clarify

Thanks

ive never used swartzkopf but as you are using a tint as well as highlights, i'd just go in with 3% and maybe finish of the last foils with 6% as you have to then apply the tint in between and wait for it to process, the first ones, if 6% were used, would over process.
:)

yip bleach with 3% starting at back and finishing off with top section with 6%.

ok guys thanks, that makes sense.

igora blond powder mixed with 3% to use on back , then 6% on top of head, apply permenant tint inbetween foils!! righty oh

another thing is, if i find the blonde hlighlights to be 'too' blonde i can also deposit a semi permenant to achieve desired colour and let that develop on wet hair for 20mins once ive first washed hair... ?

yip to foils and tint in between

as to toning what colour are you aiming for??
i personally use igora royal if im using 91/2-1 or like 10-2 for toning

ok, im thinking putting a 8.5 all over. its a hair colour she uses already or close to.. same time use 3% bottom head and 6% top head developer with the vario blond powder for highlights. let that all develop, wash off, and desposit something in the level 9 range. maybe 9.5? something close to that in a semi. keep it subtle.

...

another thoght is, as she is a level 8, with 8.5 in her hair already, can i avoid using bleach and use a 9% developer mixed with 9.5 for foil highlighting? will this lift the hair on coloured hair?

tint wont lift tint, however u can always do a strand test as your only wanting 1 shade lighter and same tone. if her hair has mega build up of tint and longish i wouldnt bother with strand test with tint as it wont come up even, in this case stick to plan A.

i wouldnt try 9.5 with 9% roots bill be alot brighter try 6% on strand test.

ok thank you

so sticking with plan A, i do my bleaching for highlights, i then wash hair, dry it quickly and then add my tone colour if i feel my blonde is too blonde; i use the igora vibrance range say 9.5-5 plus 1.9% developer on towl dryed hair and let that develop.

i hope i am remembering correctly ...

bleach 3% back 6% top foils - tint in between foils -develop 30 mins

shampoo - towel dry and tone with 91/2.5

really watch when toning as it will grab quickly and ur only having 1 shade of a difference, if u leave it on too long u wont see the difference..

thank you so much
all the theory work and praticle is up there in my mind, just had to clarify.

Sometimes it's better to get other oppinions too though. I'd go for plan a myself and making it easyer than flooding get the full head colour 1 shade lighter than wanted, and apply the same time as foiling, starting from the bottom, as u reach the top go for the desired shade,it's much quicker than flooding between after and possibly moving the foils xoxo

funny you said this
OK, i did my strand test yesterday with the bleach. I did 2 actually. 3% developer with igora blond bleach and another using 6%.
Firstly Ive decided we are going for shade 9.5. Its slightly slightly lighter then the colour she has already. I'll use 6% developer. She has some 50% white hair at roots so maybe i can put some 9.4 in the mixture. This will refresh her look

as for highlights:

:confused: Ok, so as for the strand test i did using bleach for highlights.
Well to be honest the 3% bowl not really, the 6% bowl lightend slightly. Didnt make a huge different, especially as i'll be using 9.5. Im thinking 9% developer with the bleach? Or is that a huge step foward.
Ps the hair condition was OK.

another question.
her natural roots about 2-3cm or about, can i do my foils using bleach? is it safe
