I'm looking to buy my first scissors after using my training scissors at college. Not going to jump straight into the hundreds just a pair to use whilst getting started. I know I won't be using serrated but have found a few with the option of honed or straight. Tbh I had never heard of honed so wasn't sure which was best....

Which do you all prefer? Which would you recommend and why?

Thanks everyone

Or just which type of scissors you have bought please?

My understanding is that the blade choice is usually honed, sword v serrated blade. You can’t perform some techniques such as slice cutting or point cutting with a serrated blade. Otherwise, the straight refers to the position of the handle and you can choose, straight, off-set, crane etc.

If you use the search function and type in scissors, there’s quite a few threads with various suggestions. However, I think hairdressing scissors are a very personal choice and you really need to feel them in your hands to know if they’re the right ones for you.
