I can honestly say I've never been patched tested either =S I've been every shade of the rainbow too... They always just see that I have coloured my hair before and get on with it!

I think tht is quite bad thinking about it now! :irked:

ok this is interesting! I'm not a hairdresser but in the 10years I've been having my hair coloured I've never been tested.. & I've been blonde, dark & red - all to the scalp!

Although one time the blonde dye (bleach? sorry, I'm not sure of the correct terminology) started to burn me so it had to be washed out straight away, although I never had that problem again

That would just be because your hairdresser used a peroxide to strong for scalp which resulted in burning sensation....or if you had just washed your hair not long before which would mean no oils protecting your scalp from the bleach... bleach actually has no allergens in it which confuses people, you don't need to skin test with it, your 'dark' and red however, should have been skin tested... :)

This thread is a year old Hun! However thank you for stating about oil needed to protect scalp, I gave this advice recently and was made to feel incompetent by a few geeks, that clearly hadn't been in this business long, and they had never heard of not applying bleach/tint to freshly washed hair. Annoyed me so much I stayed off here for a few days!

Thanks for reiterating that I do know my stuff.

Just noticed how old this is! but it was in the recent threads, otherwise i wouldn't have posted on it, or even seen it.... how strange :green: oh and im young and haven't been qualified 6 months yet but these days you only learn the exras if you look into it yourselves, you're taught nothing by college, and even less in salons because to the majority of salon owners these days, you're nothing but cheap help :(

Glad I'm not the only one who's had to learn alot from myself it's so annoying and stressful but worth it though :)
