Hey there everyone I had a lady in today with a huge ridge in her nail she said she thinks she did it when she gave herself manicures years ago, she said it grows out flatter but then flakes off? Is there anything I can do to help or has she damaged it beyond repair?

If that's how it grows now I rather think she's stuck with it,

Do you do acrylics or gels?

I do both x

Sculpt an acrylic overlay.

I would do an overlay on the whole nail and just literally fill up the trough. One of my ladies has the same thing after shutting her thumb in a car door.

Thank you ladies :)

Yeap same as Blossom ,

I have one lady with Thumb like this been coming to me for 20 years . Her ridge is not quite as bad as your lady but every time the nail grows it would split- The damage is in the matrix so will most likely never change . Hence why she really HAS to have an overlay on her nails . If you use gel I would prep as normal then after base (if you use that) apply an amount of gel only to the ridge , cure then continue with rest of application as normal

The matrix is damaged so it will always grow like this, as the others have said overlay or acrylic to fill the ridge is the only thing you can do x
