I thought pretty hard(not long though) about this subject.

IMO, a pedicure(regular pedi) should only be 30 mins from start to fully dried(5 mins drying).

Treat people's time like gold, but at the same time, provide a high quality service. That's how you earn people's business and repeat business. Yes, you can offer a "luxury" service in 30 mins.

Your prep work should be fast. Naturally, if you are using the right techniques, everything will go fast. When you use the wrong techniques, it slooooows you down greatly because things are not happening the way you want at that very instant. Things should bend to your will, not yours to it. That's how you know that you have mastered the technique. And to prove to you that it's all technique, cuticles(not eponychium/proximal nailfold) can(safely) literally dissolve into dust within 1-2 minutes without having to use a nipper. It does not take 20 mins to remove it.

Prep work should only take 10 mins(you read that right) and the final result should be well groomed nails(with no damage). The remaining time should be dedicated to the message and polish. A long message coupled with good nail prep will steal all of the business from a dedicated message parlor. Why? It all boils down to time. If done the right way, a pedicure offers much more value than a dedicated 30 minute message.
