I know this may sound like a silly question, but I was wondering how many hours should I dedicate per day or weekly in order to get good at applying acrylic nails. I've been on off for years now and im ready to get serious about it. I get frustrated at times because applying acrylic is very hard for me. Ive watched tons of video on YouTube and also had people show me, but without the practice I really suck. How many hours did you practice and how long did it take to be comfortable to apply it on a person?

I would practice your product ratio and acrylic balls on a piece of paper or plastic. Then, move onto the practice sheets you can find online (Tammy Taylors are the best I have found and you can easily download them) and when you can do a full sheet with utter consistency, start practicing on practice hand, then yourself... then others :) A practice hand is worth the investment in my opinion :)

I don't think there is a standard amount, when I first trained it was all I thought about night and day so I was always sat at my table practising, sometimes for 12/15 hours. Occasionally really late into the night when I got totally immersed in what I was doing it would be 2am before I realised. Other times I'd pick up my brush and nothing would go right and 10 minutes felt like a lifetime and I wanted to just give up.

I probably took 6/9 months before I got good and nearer to 2 years before I could confidently know I could handle anything that came through the door. That said, I learn something every time I do a new set so it never stops :p

Its the quality of the practise not the amount :)

do a set of nails, take 3 pictures from above , the side and down the barrel of the nail and look for where you could improve and focus on that on your next set :)

I've been a nail tech a long long time now and i still do this and learn how to improve with every set

ps , you will never be 100% happy with any set of nails you do [emoji23]
