How much to charge??

Ok I will hopefully starting mobile sometime soon, once my confidence improves mainly!! I've been asked to highlight and tint my friends teenage daughter, now I really don't know what to charge!! She wants it trimmed too, her hair is below shoulder length, I'm going to see her tomorrow to get a better idea of what needs doing and what I'll need to get from suppliers etc, so basically what should I charge her?? She's not a close mate so not worried about mates rates but I'm so out of touch with prices (been over 6yrs since was last working in a salon) I don't want to undercharge as I wouldn't like the reputation of undercutting other professionals, but I don't want to charge too much either! Thanks in advance!! X

Although i agree with £75, have a look at the salons near you for their prices.

you might find that they are more expensive or more cheaper so it could help you decide your price.

also ensure you add up how much the products will cost for you to use as that will also help you to know what you want to charge for your time as the downside of being a mobile hairdresser is that you don't have someone elses head you can work on whilst you're waiting for the colour etc..... but don't be put off by it as that's another benefit for a client... is that you are just there for them and no one else.

Well if it's below shoulder I can tell u exactly how much product I'd use and the cost, £75 is not ripping someone off for this kind of work, £45??? :0 think not! Lol I'm not in a good area but people pay to look good!

I'd charge £60-£65. It all depends on what brand you are using.
If your using a cheaper brand like NXT, then maybe even £50.00. But, if your using Matrix/Loreal/Koleston, then your looking more at £65-70

I use matrix and charge £80 as I use graphics for highlights

yup, and thats the salon prices aswell so i match them, no way im undercutting that just because im mobile. its gutting

Ouch thought I was gutted I'd gone from somewhere I cud charge 45 for a c/bd to £22!

haha i can imagine!!! a total restyle is only about £20 here, absolutely gutting!! prices havent moved for about 10 years at least!!!!! so to the original poster - if you can charge £75 then damn well do it!!!!!

Think I'm going to have to be sneaky and ring a couple of local salons and find out the average, shes 14 the girl, as for brand, I really don't know what to go with just yet, I've used wella and clynol in the past, ideally I'd love to use matrix but can't see that happening yet! And none of the salons in town use it -we're a bit behind the times here!! Think almost league of gentlemen territory!! ;-) thanks all for your advice it's really appreciated!! X

I have just gone from a salon to mobile and I charge £50 for full head highlights with CBd as the salon I worked in only charge £60 and I wouldn't charge same price as salon causemifnit was me and you were charging same as salon I'd go salon to have relaxation and hair washed in basin!

Mine is 45 just for foils-full head! I think people that do mobile should charge same as salon as its the convenience that their paying for! X

I'm mobile and I charge from £55 for full head foils including CBD.

I charge 65 for this service when doing mobile whereas my salon charges around 80 ....there are salons in my area charging £35 for full head foils cut and blow! Absolute bonkers price if u ask me!
