Hey!
I'm currently qualified in gel polish application and i am also studying nail art, gel enhancements and acrylic sculpting.
While I continue my courses I would love to start offering gel polish, but I have no clue were to even start.
I'm in a housing association property so I'm guessing that I will have to ask permission to work from home?
Does anyone here work from a housing association property?
I know I will need insurance to carry out the treatments I wish to offer.
Other than that I'm lost.
How do you go about setting yourself up as self-employed? Who do I need to inform, talk to, etc etc.
Any advice for a complete noob would be very much appreciated - I need to start getting a little bit of income in to carry on paying for the courses I'm doing and for the products I'm using.

If you drive you could always try mobile, and post a page on Facebook, post business cards through local doors if you're approved to work from home, try posting on places like "buy, sell, swap" maybe put up an advert in local stores etc.....I can't speak from experience, but just an idea. As for self employment maybe try HMRC to start with, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
All the best with your courses x

Yeah HMRC will be your point of contact regarding setting yourself up as self employed, they should also be able to give you any advice regarding your situation.
Hopefully they should be able to clear some of that confusion! :)
