How to grow long natural nails with gel polish without them breaking? I have A bunch of clients who get only gel polish and I grow their nails out long and then they end up breaking and becoming a little weak, how can I give it strength so they won't break? I tried using the new OPI strengthener basecoat but they started getting weak after a few times then breaking. Please help!

You could look into using Ibx treatments? I know that helps strengthen the nail plate and helps to resolve issues like splitting etc as well.

Mine grow really long under Shellac.

I to redo them at the 1st sign of wear. I.e. Any lifting etc. It's tempting to let them go longer than 2 weeks if they look alright but the minute they start to peel / lift remove and replace immediately.

Stress to the client to come regularly and use oil. If lifting occurs and travels up the nail bed it will take a layer of nail causing future weakness.

Once they are quite long I pop a layer of top coat on after the base coat but before the colour coats, for extra strength.

This seems to give a bit more support.

Sorry if this is teaching your granny to suck eggs. But it works for me xx

A layer of CND duraforce after the base coat and then again on top strengthens the nail very effectively. 15 min soak off though.

A layer of structure gel should help keep them strong over the gel polish - also lots of cuticle oil will keep them flexible and prevent breakage x

IBX is designed specifically to protect and strengthen natural nails under gel polish. It is a fantastic product and one I wouldn't be without. Have a look at Louella Belle who both sell IBX, the required heat lamp and aalso offer training. Initial investment is minimal so it also makes a good profit.

Have a look at The Gel Bottle products. They do amazing soak off builder gels too. Iv been a nail tech for 14 yrs and never could keep any gel product on my weak nails. I now have beautifully long strong natural nails thanks to their builder gels. Worth a try x

Ibx treatments. I use the OPI strength base and I have no issues my nails are now long and strong so are my clients
