How to lighten my hair from medium brown to light brown

I want to lighten my hair to this colour. my natural hair colour is a medium brown and im fed up of going to salons to get it done and pay a fortune and it never looks any different.

i have a beauty trade card as i did beauty in college and my mum used to be a hairdresser ages ago but has no clue what colours i should use.

so would you please help me in what colours ill need and also the way in which i should colour my hair step my step in order to achieve this look thank you guys.
