Just trying to get some feedback from other geeks about doing nails on children and do you have an age that is too young?
I have just gone back to being salon based after taking a few years out to have kids so am in the process of building up a clientele again ie. can't really afford to turn people away.
A lady today wanted to book her two daughters in for acrylic nails - one is 18 and the other is ten!
Anyway I said no to the ten year old (as quite frankly was horrified!) but said I was more than happy to offer polish and gems etc.
The mother said she has had it done in lots of other salons in Yorkshire (they have just relocated) and doesn't understand what the problem is - and that it's ok as her nails are the size of an eighteen year olds!!!
I don't think this makes any difference! I am thinking that a ten year old is definitely not old enough to look after a set of acrylic nails plus the fact that her nails are likely to be more oily and thus more prone to lifting surely?
Anyway, the mother has still booked in the older daughter in for nails (I actually thought she was going to take her business elsewhere as I really was sticking to my guns on this one) and the youngest daughter threw a strop so they manage to persuade the salon owner to book a temporary slot for her in hopes they will change my mind when they turn up!
The oldest daughter is a model and looking to have her hair and nails done every two weeks so if she is happy, will be a regular client. Just don't know what to do??? Help!!
