So, seriously want to get myself up and running with mobile nails. My plan of attacking the profession is:

CND 2 day Shellac beginners course....get insured....offer services....THEN....Salon Services gel conversion course, so can offer extensions.

Anybody had any experience with a salon services training course? location/price is very appealing but how have people found them?

Also,a nail tech I know uses regular colours under her gel system. To bump up my range of colours to initially offer would it be possible to do that using the Shellac system before investing more in CND colours?

Thanks for your help guys!

I can only speak from my own experience and there may well be others that disagree but I did the Salon Services acrylic conversion course a couple of years ago because I was already qualified in fibreglass and hard gel and just wanted to learn acrylic so I already knew how to apply tips. If I'm absolutely honest, I don't think 2 days is really long enough to learn everything from scratch because you will be using each other to practice on so in fact you'll only get half that time to actually do the process yourself. You will certainly be taught the processes but you will then need to go away and practise, practise, practise until you'll be able to produce nails you'd be happy to charge for but you won't have a tutor on hand to give you advice and correct you if you make mistakes or pick up bad habits. Do you have a local college that does nail courses? Mine offers a full-time course and also a part-time evening one and doing it this way means you get to practise regularly on each other and on clients with a tutor on-hand to help you perfect your technique. You will also be taught hard gel and acrylic application so you can see which you prefer (I still prefer gel, despite the acrylic conversion course!). The Level 3 course is also eligible for the advanced learner loan which is a real bonus. You could still do your CND Shellac beginners course first and at least be able to offer that whilst you're training to do extensions.

Good luck which ever route you choose to take!

Why not follow up with the CND Gel extensions course? If you're doing the Shellac beginners course you will already have the required lamp and prep products for their hard gels?

Thanks ladies! I did think that was a very short time to fully cover all potential aspects. Will look into a CND conversion x

Are you already trained in hard gel or enhancements? Just because you're talking about conversion courses not the beginners... but I would stick with CND their courses are great :)

Sorry forgot to add about your second question, if by normal colours you mean nail polish then no you can't put it under Shellac top coat

Salon services courses are hit and miss I personally had a very bad experience, wasted money and learned nothing at all.
So to be 100% honest I doubt you will get much from this course as it's very short.
And as far as I know the shellac beginners course is just for shellac polish/manicure? (Someone please correct me If I'm wrong.) It won't teach you anything about actual hard gel enhancements at all.
A conversion course is for if you have trained in enhancements with a certain brand then want to convert to another.

You won't be able to use ordinary polish under gel polish top coat if that's what you mean. The topcoat will just crack. Xx

Thanks for your help guys!
