Hi How do you all do your Indian head massage. Do you use a chair or bed??

I ask my client to sit on a chair in front of my beauty couch so that they can lean forward onto it if they wanted to.

This is how I was taught in college, however I do feel it would be more comfortable to lie down. I'd be interested to know what others do

When I trained (about 10 years ago) I was taught it was a 'seated massage', you need to work down the back to roughly the bra strap and the fronts of the shoulders so I can't see how lying down would work. I've only seen it done seated too. Lying down would just be a head/scalp massage rather than a full Indian Head Massage which involves the neck and shoulders

Totally agree.

I trained in aromatherapy massage then in Indian Head. After many years I decided that I didn't enjoy doing Indian Head and felt that my clientele enjoyed my Face, head back and shoulders massage more. This is 40 minutes on the couch with upper clothing removed. My Indian Head was also with upper clothing removed so by the time they were undressed they could relax more on the couch. I packed Indian Head in several years ago and haven't missed it.

If you're taught a seated Indian Head I don't know how it would translate insurance wise, onto the couch x

Trained on a massage chair.

Most spas that offer ihm only have beds in treatment rooms so in the 45min treatment we would do 15mins on the client with them face down in order to work on the top of the back. They would be asked to turn over and lie in their back for the remaining time.

In writing it sounds a bit disjointed but in practice I never had a client not say they felt very relaxed afterwards :)

Totally agree . A nice treatment to do lying down but you can all it Indian head massage as above it just a head/shoulder massage . However I do alway check with clients as automatically assume it it lying down especially at pamper parties they look at me like I'm mad when I get the chair out x
