They used to reuse the wax in the olden days lol They would siv out the hairs and reuse the wax.
Most tutors are so set in their ways and do not take or attend any courses to catch up with the times because they are too set in their ways.
It really annoyed me when I was at college. They trained me 'to be competent in industry' and to be honest it's nothing like what they said it would be like. There's not one thing that i do the same I don't think, apart from the hygiene parts.
Do what you need too to pass the course I say and then change what you want after! xxx

Why not just take a course that is excellent from a company with the reputation and the products that back that reputation and get it RIGHT from the start? Makes a hell of allot more sense to me!

Hooray for Hollywood! My sentiments exactly.

I never lose site of the fact that money is tight for a lot of people.....I know as I raised my daughter totally alone with no financial help.

However, going on all these £95 for the day courses work out more expensive in the end, as you'll either have to re-train or you won't be able to get/keep a job because you lack skill.

It pays to go with a company who you'll be proud to put on your CV and it will open doors for you. Honest! xxx

Wise words i think everyone gets bitten at one point or another.

E.g I had the choice to go with a company for my waxing course that was 100.00 and it didn't cover much and the company didn't have the best recommendations. But i chose the better option with Kim for my waxing as i know full well its going to be a great course :green:

Because I didn't want to do short courses. My college was brilliant and I qualified fully competent and was confident straight away. It's also hard to get NVQ if you don't train for a yr. I am glad I took the course that I did but think SOME of the tutors could do with a bit of a refresher course.

Totally! I did my whole nvq level one and two for about £300 each. I dread to think how much it would have come to individually  and for me I know I just wouldn't be competent in one day so would have wasted my money anyway xxx

It's not about quantity......it's about quality.

You will NOT become an expert by doing ANY course, whether it's for 1 day or 3 years. I've taught many people who have studied at college for 2 or 3 years and they said they've learnt more in the 1 day with me than during the whole time.

I've also taught Absolute Beginners who have never picked up a spatula and they were brilliant.

A good course will teach you the skills required to become an expert.

A bad course will teach you the skills to become mediocre (or just plain bad). xxx

OK you can blame me :lol::lol:

LOL
It wasn't you hun. It was the dist, who knew I was already a working tech. I wanted the 'basics' course to update my knowledge etc...
Well...I could have updated their's.
The dist. wanted me to be clear that if I questioned the tutor, I'd be booted from the course. They didn't want me questioning the tutor in front of other students.
She wasn't "bad', but... there were things I heard and saw... I ground my teeth SEVERAL times.

Just this week, I had another newbie claiming L&P was 'bad for the natural nail" and so I had to go into my educational spiel about bad techs and illegal/toxic L&P containing MMA being the only things bad for nails.

I do agree with you Kim but I do think it depends on how you learn. I learn better over a period of time because I need to know the in's and outs of everything before i'm happy. I just know one day wouldn't be enough for me to be satisfied. But then I have friends that have trained in one day and loved it! x
