Evening all

Does anyone know if Beauty Guild insurance would cover me to do gel polish on a 14yr old if her mum is present?

(Apologies for asking rather than ringing them but I with the mother this evening)

I contacted the guild this week and they can send you a copy of a statement by the director concerning the treatment of minors (under 18s in England).
I messaged using their Facebook page and got a quick reply.
They require a signed consent form and the parent present for all treatments.

It's a really grey area treating minors but reading the guild info will help your decisions

Personally I don't do shellac on under 16s because their nails aren't mature enough and you run a higher risk of sensitivities. They are likely to pick them off too!
I use normal polish and stickers etc which they can take off at home.

There are probably lots of geeks who will disagree with me on this but this is my understanding from teaching beauty to 14-16 year olds and habia guidelines

I agree and I was also told that when treating minors if there was any kind of reaction too occur and a possible law suit/court proceedings too arise you can also be charged with child abuse. [emoji15] xxx

Thank you for taking the time to post all of this, it's very helpful.

Record keeping for minors is important too.
The guild say that for adults you keep records for seven years but for minors it's seven years from when they turn eighteen - in case they decide their treatments were a form of abuse.

Minefield isn't it!!
