Hi,

I am just wondering if you are able to get insurance when unqualified?
I started a course but then went on maternity. I have found a salon that is happy for me to rent a chair unqualified but I need insurance whilst i gain my qualification.

I have contacted a couple but i've not been successful as of yet.

Salon Gold offer student insurance but there are conditions stating you must be trained in the service you are offering and deemed competent by your educator. You should also be regularlly supervised and make clients aware you are not qualified and also charge less than the full price.

You can get student insurance but thst only covers you for practise i.e. case studies and you must be able to show that what you are charging is well below the standard rate just to cover your costs. You must also be under the regular supervision of your tutor and clients need to be aware you aren't qualified. I couldn't imagine you'd be insured for working in a business premises to be honest unless the business owner was in fact your tutor and you were using the work in the salon as your course practise/case studies. I could be wrong but that's what I understood from it.
