Hi there.
After 20 years owning a tanning and Beauty salon in the Midlands, we recently found out Ireland are in the process of a complete ban on sunbeds, privately owned one and also salons.
Are any of you fellow sunbed shop owners effected by this... or conversely, worried about it effecting England any time soon. We have seen a slight dip in sunbed use in the last 8 or so years and even more since covid, luckily we have other income from spraytans and nails and Beauty but we are worried about investing in new sunbeds if we are are next on the ban list. Happy to take our business in a different direction but wondered if you guys had heard anything
Thoughts?
Thank you for reading ❤️

In the USA we had to post a sign saying in essence that 'tanning beds caused skin cancer'. It didn't take long for the industry to get that changed to 'might contribute to'. No matter how we look at it, the sun isn't our best friend anymore. Ozone depletion in some areas make it more intense on the skin.

We sold our beds in 2000, and concentrated on Nails, Facials, Hair and Permanent Make-up. I will admit that we made quite a bit of $ in the tanning industry, but eventually we got out. It wasn't particularly because of esthetic or health reasons, we were just interested in other services and could use the space more efficiently.

Sounds as if you have a good attitude going forward, whatever happens in the UK.
