Hi ya

Need everyone's honest opinion, I have an interview at a college on Thurs to do level 2 hairdressing, I have always been passionate about hair the reason I'm doing this late is I have two little ones 6 and 4 and my daughter starts school in September, so thought be amazing to start training for hairdressing when they are all at school. Also wanted to ask if I wanted more experience whilst I'm training at college, do you think its easy to get a part time job at a salon even if its just shampooing hair and work my way up, or do is it more younger ones they prefer to take on? I work from home doing my beauty bits part time which I'll still be earning, be amazing to add on hair, my friends as hairdressers and my clients keep going on saying i should do hair as I know about hair and colours as i used to work at a hair salon and i rented out a room there.

Much appreciated on any comments.

Many thanks.

I'm 35 and started my course in September .. Been fitting hair extensions part time for a year and I'm a teaching assistant but always had a passion for hair .. 3 children and a marriage break up and I decided to go for it .. I am loving it not stressing over the future just enjoying my course and seeing where it takes me .. Your never too old . Good luck :)

The only thing i can say is... age doesnt matter, experience does. This is one thing i think youll find tricky. Are you planning to do it at home

I trained in pre bonds and micro rings although my main area of fitting has been pre bonds I'm going to train in weaves really soon too . I agree your never too old no point not doing it and living with regrets .. I do wish I had done it earlier but life had other plans for me x

In bournemouth everyone loves there weaves its such a big thing here, i all ready have interst which is good. when i used to get mine done i had 3 rows takes around an hour which is good for impatient clients, it never damaged my hair it actually helped it grow.

i will be 34 :Scared: in march!! currently doing my vrq2 at college. i was a 'late starter' 10 years ago, trained in house and worked as stylist, no college course, then left it 2008 and then decided last august fook it im going to go for it! soo, if its what you want then as nike would say, JUST DO IT!!

Hi x I'm about to finish my level 2 and will be 48 this year. Don't ever let age be a barrier to fulfilling your dreams and expressing yourself x I have thoroughly enjoyed my course and have worked voluntarily in a salon on Saturdays where I have built trust and am now styling models until I qualify. I believe my age has been a positive in that I chose to give up a decent job and fund myself to do this and am therefore committed, keen and proactive. I also know how to relate to people and communicate whereas I was very shy in my twenties and thirties. Do it! Don't even think about your age. If you want something enough, you'll make it happen irrespective of any factors that may appear as negatives x good luck x
