It's a finger made out of blue tac..!!

Roll a piece of blue tac like the size of a finger. Then get a nail tip and stick it on the end with the free edge hanging out just like a 'nail plate'.

If you push the tip far enough in, then it kind of sinks into the blue tac providing you with the surrounding area of the tip as 'skin and eponychium'...!

Cheap and cheerful.

You can practice on just about anything, I've stuck tips to anything they will fit on properly and practiced blending. For smiles and product application I'll work on tips, stick forms to polish bottle lids, what ever I can find. Trainer hands are fab, but there are plenty of other ways. I have a trainer hand, I just found when money was tight and you can buy 100's of cheap tips off of fleabay that I can do fine in many other ways.

Violet Star, I have had several nightmare sets on myself, I absolutely suck at tipping my own nails and frequently misjudge the size ending up with them not adhering as they should. Consequently despite having to tailor many of the forms for my extended hyponichiums I sculpt my own nails. I know from the few sets I have done on friends and that I did in school that they have been happy, and I'm happy.

I dont take a bad day on my own nails as a reflection on what I can do. When I sit down with practice fingers, bottle tops and forms etc I know they are fine.

I wouldn't have said that a year ago as anyone here who knows me will confirm, I have had a massive boost in confidence and self belief though and it makes a huge difference. Take the good nails you have been happy with and run with that thought and use what your not happy with to work on and make you better.:hug:

Thanks for all your support and help guys, honestly your all the best with genius minds lol.

I went back to my nails again after wanting to chop them off and produce a nail which i think looks pretty good and will post a critique to see if i got it right.
xx

Have just seen your thread Violet Star. Hope you managed to feel better about things. I know how you feel. I have been pleased with the enhancements that I have done apart from one set which i just wasn't happy with. I beat myself up about it, went on to do other good sets. I didn't hear from the client, then 7 weeks later I got a text asking for an appointment.

Don't give up, you know you can do it because you passed your exam.

Take care hun

Hey,

The blue tak method really is cost effective and works great for practice. I spent $10, 1 on blu tak and 9 on 200 fake nails.

Keep practising and think positive :)

I agree that only you know if this is what you want to do. It sounds like you do though, so you know what they say,
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Practice, practice and practice again! We used to stick tips to the table with blue tack to practice our gels/ acrylic on and it works so give it a go.

Good luck and have some patience xx

i believe geeg's idea was blu tac rolled into a sausage with a tip on?

il have a look about for the thread too! and edit if i find it!

and remember its always hardrer to do your own nails! when you put a clients tips on they dont have to pick anything up!

and i looked on ebay too, there are some ones going at good prices jsut now,

:)

Hi violet star

There is also another way without a nail trainer - someone on here used to use a plastic glove filled with rice, stick false nails on and apply tips / enhancements to false nails!

Otherwise, look on ebay - people are always selling nail trainers on there!

thats genius!!!

:)

Wow you guys have the most amazing ideas!! Im going to give these a try thanks very much xx

I have used a washing up glove filled with flour, with an elastic band over the end in the past.
