Hey, anyone else on here use Kiara Sky Gel polishes? I am finding that mine are chipping/lifting after a week! What am I doing wrong??
I did apply a base but I understand you don’t need to with these products, does is make a difference?
Fist application of colour thin then the next slightly heavier, then thin top coat!
I find the product less thick than other gels and I can’t make it from the base up to the free edge without dipping in Polish again so should I be applying more on the first coat?
Or Maybe it’s a little less hard wearing than cheaper gels that damage the nails?? It just seems strange as it’s a more premium product!
I prep the cuticles and wipe with a cleanser then buff the shine away!
Any advice on what I am doing wrong would be amazing! Xx

Hi there! I use Kiara Sky and I never have issues with chipping, the only time I've had an issue with chipping was the matte top coat, and was only on one client!

That being said I often do 3 coats on the Creme colours, and on clients who have trouble with chipping I use the IBD pro bond.

I always use their basecoat as I've read reviews that without it people have issues with peeling/chipping.

You said you wipe with cleanser then buff, most systems say you should do prep work (including buffing), then use an alcohol cleanser.

Hope this helps xxx

Thanks so much, confirms that I’m not doing anything wrong, so weird that I’m having issues as I’m doing the same as you are.

Do you think my lamp would effect it? It’s LED but not great quality!

Xx

Also how long does it usually last on clients? I know it varies depending on what they do say to say but I want to manage their expectations :) xx

Im not sure of the specs of their LED lamp as its only very recently been released. But I use the Gelish 18G plus lamp and a cheaper unbranded one for pedicures (as it gets bashed around quite a bit!), with no issues.

It might be worth looking up their manufacturers instructions to see what lamp they recommend.

Most of my clients get 2-3 weeks, however some can get 4+ weeks with no chips!

Thaks so much much for your help my lamp was only £30 I think, I have no idea if they cure any differently though, I will do some investigating!
Maybe the problem is in the after care, I have done nails for friends and family for my case studies after passing my course and I don’t think they are looking after their nails quite as much as they should be as they haven’t paid so don’t see the value in looking after them! Xx
