I really want to try encasing some lace into gel nails, I have seen a few piccy's of lace with L&P. I have done a search on here but cant only come up with L&P suggestions and a fab photo of Ant Buckleys lacey fibreglass nails ~ so will it work with Gel?

Anyone have any piccy's of lacey nails they have created?

What type of lace would I use? I am miles from the big smoke so online suppliers/ Ebay suggestions would be appreciated.

have a look in Glorsclaws gallery, she has done some fab lace nails :D x

Just get some snippets of lace from a shop and play with it on a tip, you can only find out if it work if you give it a go hun. Then you could be dvising someone else then on how to do it.

Go on live dangerously lol

:D He He Jo - thats the same link I posted further up the page. They look fantastic dont they?

doh it would help if i had read all the post wouldnt it.....................pmsl. look in the baskets of curtain shops for snippet of net curtains

I have some lovely pieces of lace that I picked up in a habadashery... bottle green, dark purple, red... I havent got around to using it yet though.
I did embed lace in gel nails some time back before I bought a digi and began using l&p...it worked well.
Ive also seen lace patterns painted on, just as effective, though you obviously need to be very good at replicating your design for it to look convincing.
If you have a go .... be sure to post wont you.

Okay set the girl a challenge - with the help of a basque from Ann Summers that still had tags on LOL! I grabbed my SIL (who is a skin biter  - I didnt nick her!) and created this :-

There is a funny white ghosting on the free edge which isnt there in real life it is clear like the rest of the nail - strange
Not anywhere near Ant Buckley but I tried.....

looks petty good for a first attempt was it hard to work with?
Why not try it just in the tip as well as see how that looks.

Hi Lucia,
Yep I found it quite difficult shape and stay in place while I applied the gel on top. Not overly impressed with my first effort but I will try again. Think applying it on the tip only would look fab.

Thin it would be pretty coll , try putting your first coat of gl on and applying the lace to it thenit may stick better.
With l&P i tend to use brush on adehsive or a thin layer of clear then laying things on top of it.

Thanks Lucia X
I did my bonder layer, cured and then put a wee bead of gel on put the lace in place but when I added gel on top the lace sort of slid about so I held it inplace with tweezers whilst applying gel with the other hand, but it was patchy. I cured and then put a proper layer of gel on.

it can be tricky to apply fabric - lace into the gel as sometimes it tends to move about a bit. try this:

choose your lace

messure it to the nail and trip to fit nail

put your lace aside

apply coat of clear gel onto prepared nail

using tweezers apply the lace onto the wet gel

cure as recommende by manufacture

apply 2 to 3 thin coats of clear gel over the lace and cure between coats

wipe of the sticky residue with your gel cleanser

OR..... once you have applied the first layer of the clear gel you can cure it for about 10 to 15 seconds and then continue with the lace and other coats., this method helps to stop the lace from moving to much

NOTE: when you apply gel over the lace use your brush and "work" the gel into the lace to help it stay down.

good luck

Looks and sounds lovely to me, one I would love to try!
