Just wondered if anyone can give me some advice on where I stand regarding my clients.
I've recently left a salon to go mobile and most of my clients have followed me.
I don't have a contract
I'm self employed on a rent a table basis
I give the owner 30% of all my takings
I provide all my own equipment
Could she take it further if my clients have followed me ?

They are your clients to take.

They are your clients to take.
Thank you just a bit nervous as I heard she is on the war path and apparently trying to get my address, which to me means she is gonna try to take legal action

I don't see how she can take it further.
1. No contract
2. Self-employed

I wouldn't worry.

If you were self employed in the salon, the client details are legally yours and should NOT be divulged to the salon owner without the client's express permission.

The salon owner would be in breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 if she tried to access their details without permission. Ths is classed as a criminal offence!

Oh wow! I didn't realise that. Guess I can relax a bit then. Do you or anyone know of a link to an official document/ hmrc maybe that explains my rights that I can print to show her if the worst happens ?

Don't print her anything.
You're done. She's done.
Have nothing to do with her anymore.
She can't do anything. Period.

Should I completely ignore her if she does try to send me anything /contact me ?

Sorry just a worrier and I've seen her trash so many therapists name in the past even to the point of telling everyone someone was a theif when they wasn't! She's a compulsive liar, one of the many reasons I'm glad to have left

If you are self employed then she definitely won't be able to do anything, so don't worry at all on that front :)

As for her trashing your name, I can say from personal experience I've had this done to me. I was blocked from their Facebook account and they posted malicious statuses not naming names but clearly about me, told clients I had stolen products from them, told clients I had not given them any notice and just walked out the salon and never came back in (when in fact the day after giving my notice she told me not to go in again!) and just in general bad mouthed me.
I was employed by this lady so it is slightly different in that way, but I can honestly say I did not poach any clients or take anyone's details from the salon, but through general word of mouth and after setting up my own Facebook page clients tracked me down off their own back, and made their own decision to come to me.
I would say that her bad mouthing me actually benefitted me as it made her look extremely unprofessional and people said that they would not want to listen to her talking about an employee in that way so decided to find me instead :)
I have now been self employed for just over a year and have never been busier

I hope this may help settle your mind!! (Sorry for the lonnngggg post!) xxx

THANK YOU ☺

She can't have it both ways! You were self employed and paying her. She has no come back on you, they are your Clients and you have done nothing wrong.

I would advise not interacting with her at all, you will just fuel the fire, ignore her. If she does start to spread rumors etc. you have a case against her for defamation.
