I prepared and did as supposed to with my new chrome powder over shellac and it came out metallic and not smooth mirror shine but opaque bitty metallic. Any ideas where I've gone wrong ? Also around cuticles it's not covered with chrome. Looks a right mess to be honest - considering I've been doing nails over 20 years

Chrome in general is a bit tricky to begin with.

Make sure you're covering the entire Shellac surface, including the free edge, with the Lecente Layer It. Apply a thin coating of chrome by dabbing your applicator into the powder then rubbing over the whole surface in a circular motion. Once you're satisfied that everything has been covered sufficiently, apply your Xpress top coat or UV top coat and cure in the usual way.

Someone put a tip on here a recently that if any areas are uncovered when wiping in the inhibition layer, then you can dab the chrome powder once more to the affected areas, then re-apply another top coat.

HTHs a little.
