I am qualified in make-up and hair but would also like to train in manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. Should I train at college and do a Level 2 Beauty Therapy course or do a short course at a beauty school instead?

I'm always going to say go to college. Whether you want to work for yourself or be employed, every insurance company will ensure you and you know you have all bases covered. Many councils now are clamping down on therapists with short courses and asking for a minimum nvq 2 to work from home.

I am not interested in doing the brow and lash treatments such as tinting and lash extensions. Would it be fine to complete the waxing, manicure and pedicure units and not the whole qualification? Would I still get insured? x

Nope. You won't gain the qualification if you don't complete it, therefore won't get the insurance

I think you can actually. I think you can do the modules and get insured in just those modules in the same way that you can do parts of an nvq privately.

However not many colleges break down their treatments like that. You may have to do the full works at college although it's not standard to do lash extensions.

Go to college, I'm currently coming to the end of my level 2 beauty therapy and only a small part was lash tint and false lashes, by it is worth it to get your qualification

You only learn cluster lashes and strip, no individuals! And the whole lash and brow treatment is quite a quick one!

Yeh spot on frayere, I loved the course

Really? Didn't realise that.
Although seems pretty pointless paying for a course and only doing part of it may as well get your monies worth lol

How long do the lashes last?

I think clusters last around a week sometimes 2, I don't really do them much! Some people just use them for an evening

Did you do Level 2 Beauty part time or full time? With part time beauty do you work on each other in class or do you bring clients in? x

I did my level 2 full time, 3 days a week and we could work on each other or bring them in but the college also supplied paying clients for us as well x

Ah okay, thank you :) x
