I have my level 2 beauty therapy and level 3 holistic massage.

I'm looking to start my level 3 beauty therapy soon but what all gets covered in level 3?

Are you attending college to do this?......I think all colleges in different areas differ ....when I did level 3 I completed massage and electrical treatments ....whereas someone I knew completed epilation and make up....would your course prospectus not give you this info? X

I've been looking at 2 different places and they only offer level 3 which includes everything I done at level 2 & the holistic massage. The only difference is that it includes the electrical treatments and indian head massage! I'm trying to figure out if i did these things separately would it count as a level 3?

If you do separate unit qualifications it still counts.

Look at the vtct website for clarification of nvq 3 beauty therapy general route vs nvq 3 beauty therapy massage route. You may find having level 3 in holistic treatments would mean that massage route is a bit repetitive/unnecessary. You could simply add extra treatments to your qualifications through individual evening courses.

Nb for Indian head and electrical treatments then yes you could do them as separate things and it would still be a recognised level three qualification if done as a part time course at college.

Most level three nvqs don't include everything so it's normal to add to this through separate unit qualifications. For eg I've done unit qualifications in lash extensions and intimate waxing with vtct at level 3 because it wasn't in my nvq3 beauty massage route so this is pretty normal stuff.

Just be aware that all electrical units might be tricky or expensive to source individually. I would recommend weighing up if this area is genuinely of interest to you because many train in it but don't use it.

I have no interest whatsoever in the electrical units but everywhere I've been searching requires level 2 and 3 beauty therapy. I've got my level 3 holistic massage but I don't know what that counts as?

I went for an apprenticeship interview and it went really good and she would like me to come in for a trial when I get back from my holiday, the only thing is - she wants me to start training for my level 3 alongside it!

If you're level three qualified in massage and massage related treatments then getting work in a spa is an option. your holistic level three should be enough.

If the potential employer is willing to pay for your training then grab the opportunity with both hands but if she is insisting that you spend your own time and money on something you're not interested in then I would be sceptical. If you're young enough to get a course for free then that could be a good reason to do it anyway but having said that your time could be better spent if you really don't want to go into the electrical treatment side of things.
