Hi all! This is my first post.
My virgin hair is level 4 and very ashy. I would like to start lifting my root area gently as it grows in. My stylist believes that even with an ashy or matt color (like 6/2 in Wella KP), a 20 volume peroxide would create too much red/brass. I had something like this done by someone a few years ago (though I don't know what products were used), and it came out perfect. So I know it can be done. I understand my stylist's concern, because the KP cendré series turns a bit red on me (like chocolate). Is the matt /2 series typically strong enough to cover red in my level hair?
If not, what about Schwarzkopf? From the online swatches, it looks like they don't have any straight up matt colors. Have these become less popular these days? Why is everything blue or violet based now? This is great for blondes, but not so much for brunettes. My hair needs green!!!!
Basically, what would you use to lift dark hair just 1-2 levels without increasing red tones?
Thanks!
