Hey guys,

After years of not doing colour I am trying to get back into it as i now work from home. I havnt done colour in so long that i am having to reteach myself everything. A few things are not adding up for me and was wondering if someone can help.

so i lift someone hair to lets say a 5 there undertone would be RED so to correct i would need GREEN is that right?

also if i lifted someone to a 6 there undertone would be RED ORANGE so i would need a BLUE GREEN to to correct. but Loreal don't have a blue tone, is there blue tone counted as ASH???

hope you can help ,

Many Thanks

.1 is your blue (ash) .7 is your green. Have attached the L'Oreal neutralisation chart for you which correlates to the undercoats.

Okay, Firstly I would say invest in the Majirel and Dia light/Richesse (both in one) shade charts as a minimum. It will help you to understand whats available and what you can make up yourself etc (Sallys Tottenham Court Rd, London store can order them in for you.)

Dia Light & Richesse are like the old Dia Gelee & Hi Richesse demi/semi permanents but with updated technology.

Dia Light (think of this for MAINLY COLOURED hair) - Acid Technology, Amonia Free
Used mainly on coloured hair - Toning, refreshing faded colour, pre colouring, glossing on natural hair
20 mins development time
NO LIFT - deposit only
No coverage on % of white hair
Can be used to go 2 levels darker
Clear can be used for glossing service on natural or coloured hair
Clear can be used to make a shade up a soft reflect (say you want 8.03 - mix 8.3 with some clear like 1/4 to get 8.03)
The "Milkshakes" are your toners for your blondes/highlights

Dia Richesse - (think of this for MAINLY NATURAL hair) Alkaline Technology, Amonia Free
20 mins development time
Can lift up to 1 &1/2 shades
Can go 4 levels darker
will cover up to 70% of white hair

Actvateur's -
6 Vol - Tone, pre colour, going darker
9 Vol - Same level & for 1 level of lift
15 Vol - 1&1/2 levels of lift.

For white coverage -
up to 30% white just use target shade
up to 70% white mix half base and half target shade (if a fashion shade)

Use clear to dilute other colours only as will lift the natural base (say you want 8.03 - mix 8.3 with some clear like 1/4 to get 8.03)
Unless you want to lift the clients base - (think of in between foils, base breaker) but not as glossing service on natural hair.

No worries, good to have more L'Oreal users here. Good luck with it all!

Michael. I have just completed the colour keys course loreal offer and would highly recommend it. It will refresh your knowledge and update you on brands you may not have worked with.

Hi @shiningfaery I have booked it just now,, looks great

Highly recommend the "colour change" course after colour keys. You will basically be fine with colour correction, changing tones, colour matching, pre pig etc after it. You will never look back!

Michael, download the app on the apple store (if you have it, not sure you can get it on android) 'LP Education' (L'Oreal Professional). It has all of L'Oreals colour line on there and goes into great detail about each product, the colour wheel, depths/tones. It's brilliant.

Does that mean you are a L'Oreal convert now Allan? How's the NVQ 3 going?

L'Oreal is so much easier to pick up than Wella, imo. I MIGHT be a convert lol.

Cxxxx I didn't realise that was you. Your old pic is showing up where i've quoted you in my last comment.
How are you finding the Babyliss hairdryer? I ordered one earlier, should have asked you for a follow up review first.

Yes, I changed profile pic and name. Realised all these threads come up on google and some times we all need to have a rant in chit chat (not so professional if your client sees your name and picture!)

Loving the Babyliss, blow dries are so much quicker (and I only use mid heat setting). I was at L'Oreal academy in Hammersmith this week. They have the Parlux 3800, the girl next to me turns and says "this is useless" I couldn't agree more. Now I know why I was always running behind! You will love it!

Hi guys
Sorry I have just seen theses messages @AllanJudge just downloading it now. Thanks so much didn't realise they had an app

Michael you're very welcome. It tells you everything.

James, i'll call you James because I know you're bein dead inconspicuous now lol - the Babyliss sounds dead good, cant wait for it to come. I got the black one.
My Parlux was starting to feel like it was blowin out cold air, they're a bit over rated but we'll see. What were you doing at L'Oreal academy? We've got them comin into college on Wednesday to give us product training.

Hi guys, quick question... Majiblonde can this be used with 6% 9% and 12% and can it be used on already lightened hair. Have my colour training for next week but need to know for an upcoming client x
