Hi all,

I'm a not a hairdresser, nor am I studying but I'm really interested in the coloring process. I want to understand a bit more about the application of my highlights. I've been getting highlights for about 4 years, normally every 3-6 months depending on cash-flow!

A few months ago I was a hair model for a training academy and it was the best color I've ever had! The student was really careful, methodical and used the colors I asked for. Unfortunately I didn't get the color card from that day but she used some lighter ashy tones and left out the 7.3 majirel low-light that my previous salon insisted would give a better all round look, but I really don't like.

Annnnnnnnyway, I got the color card from my original salon, they used majiblonds 900s w/20% vol and the 7.3 w/20% vol. They also used a 30vol pre-lightner according to the card. I'm not sure where the pre-lightner comes in? I ask them to put a lighter streak through the front at my parting, could it have been for that?

What I want for my next color is much cooler ash tones like my last color as the previous 900s seems quite honey toned and turn yellow/brassy. If I wanted to go lighter but more ash, what would you recommend? 8.1, 8.2, 9.17? Or is it better to stick to the majiblonds and go for a 901?

I really love this color with almost greyish tones. Also, would it be possible to go for an all-over colour with one tone on top of the existing highlights with about 1.5inch roots (my natural color is dark blond around 6/7)?

Any advice would be great, so I can go in knowing exactly what shades I want for my next color!

Thanks!

Apologies for posting in the wrong thread! Just looked at a different colour chart, they look look slightly different online and I realized the 8.1 is ash and the 8.2 is violet, would ash/violet tones go over majibond?
