Hi geeks,

I am considering investing in minx ready for summer. I have bought 1 sheet of a Kimmie Kyees design to have a go with on myself before I purchase a kit and do training.

I have looked through the threads on here and on various youtube videos and I'm now a bit confused about the application.

I thought it would be a normal pep (I'm a CND user) before heating and applying the foil but I've seen people buffing the nails and using something called bond aid etc. I'm all in a confuzzle!

Also what do you do if there's not a foil that fits the nail, do you cut it before you take it off the back sheet?

I know you're probably going to say do the training, which I will be doing but I want to do it on myself today so my clients see and start asking about it so I know I'm doing the right thing by investing.

Hi Rhiannon, I did the training last month and they do teach you all that you have mentioned. Yes you can trim them to fit before heating but there is no buffing of the nail - just the usual prep, scrubfresh then apply. Well worth going on the course though as it gives you a bit of added confidence that you can deal with all sorts! good luck!

I didn't do an 'official' CND course, but my course taught the same, just some scrubfresh before applying.

Geeg sent me a step by step guide on applying minx. I found it on this link. HTH

Thank you both. That link is a good help :)

I managed these on myself and was surprised it was fairly easy. Going to hopefully order the kit and book onto the training next week. Sooo excited!

Might help if I added the pic!

Hiya..on my training we were taught not to buff the nail but if necessary, when using some of the plain metallic minx, gently buff over any ridges as these can sometimes show through :) No need for bond aid...just a good scrubfresh!

Looks like you've done a great job anyway, they're gorgeous!! :) xx

Ahhh I see, that makes sense! Can't have ridges in your minx!

Thank you :) I'm not happy with the cuticle edge on my left thumb but I'll learn how to do it properly on the course :)

Nice job, Rhiannon! MMIX is very easy on a nice natural nail like yours. But there are tricks to learn for tricky shapes and conditions which your class will help to sort out. I'd be happy to send you the official MINX training video along with the aftercare advice if you email me, gigirouse at gmail dot com, and include your S2 customer number.

Thank you :) that would be really helpful.
