Oh my gosh, we have all spent loads of money on an education in nails and ebay and that Woman on this Morning are devaluing our trade.

It should be stopped!!!!!

It's not just this industry though to be honest -

There are hundreds of items from the immoral to the illegal on ebay. Even if the listings only remain live for a short time, there will always be ways. Although it does this (or other industries) no favours; there is no point trying to fight it, it will always happen there - or on many other sites that are similar.

Personally, I think some of us spend far too much time and efforts in worrying about what others are doing.

There are constantly angry threads about ebay, discount stores and working untrained technicians.

No matter how much we talk about it, these people and places won't go away. So instead, why not spend your precious time on trying to improve your skills to a high standard so these people/places are not even consider a threat to you..?

I don't do minx, but if I did, then i will practise hard to make sure I turn out an excellent set of minx nails with no flaws. That way, even if my client manages to get hold of a set of minx on ebay, she will never be able to put it on as well as I do. And if by chance she does, then good for her and I will just move on to my next client.

I agree with Samantha! For those that saw it will have seen it compared with the gold in my brand! How can the 2 be compared! Mine ended up looking awful, not shiny and badly applied! But at least it was there!

It's such a shame that the service with Minx wasn't shown at its best but the result was good.

Concentrate on your businesses and turn the TV thing into a positive

Amen to that ... at least Minx and Marian's INKredibles got the air time they deserve!

Ahhh! Thank you Noodle

I've just watched and I'm happy with my bit really. It is the easy home version. That's what my brand is all about! (Can look much better though!)

The Minx result really didn't do it justice though. Looked very untidy actually and we all know how immaculate it can look.

1,000's more people know about it know though!

I have finally seen the 'piece' and serioulsy - it was a 2 second shot of what Zoe was actually doing. I know she didn't use the Minx file but a lot use the Kanga and say it works fine. (Zoe if you're reading - it was your own naills that caught my eye more than anything... :smack: )

But Minx got 20 times more air time than any other product.... good old Nadine (I can't believe the presenter said Maggot )... anyway I digress...

Marian got some great air time too and of course the polish (Inkredibles) won't look the same - no polish will because as we all know Minx isn't a poilsh. I think we should all be thrilled that a LOT of people saw that and it was also made perfectly obvious that Minx WAS a professional salon treatment.... very clear...and that MarianNewmanNails was for home use.

I know who was behind this - so a public thank you to PJ!!

so.... as Haydn says to me all the time 'Calm your Branstons'!!!

Hi everyone
Just caught up with the Nadine Baggott intro of the hot metalic trend nails as worn by Beyonce!!
Yes its the one and only Minx!
My friends daughter told me about it so I had a quick looksee.
The minx were done by Zoe Pocock using OMG a HAIRDRYER!!!
Now would Daniel Galvin appear on GMTV cutting hair with a pair of garden scissors - I dont think so!
Why was the proper lamp not used to project a proffessional image?
After all its a professional product to be used by professionals IN A PROFFESSIONAL MANNER.
Lets be honest guys we have enough to contend with battling against the NSS out there and the quickie 1 day course brigade.
Surely cost couldnt have been an issue?!
Why oh why - I dont understand!!
I really did feel let down by the way the product was presented.
Would be interesting to know if any other minx lovers out there feel the same?

Hun there is already a thread about this I would delete this one and do a search.
There is some very good comments from Mrs Geek about it
Heres the linkhttp://www.salongeek.com/chit-chat/98786-minx-morning-tv.html

I merged the two threads.

Thanks Fiona - I was totally bewildered when I saw that post!

Well I read about this about an hourish ago, and wondered if this was why I had a minx 'no show' today in the salon, BUT a couple of minutes later I had a message from a friend asking me 'how much we charge in the salon for minx nails'

I'm off to look at the clip now I haven't seen it yet,

But what I am thinking is....If I knew anyone local who could do my minx I would probably pay them to do it (if they did a good job) as it is such a PITA doing my own and I know how to apply them correctly...

I have done my own toes using a hairdryer and the last time put me off for months, ...took ages, lots of faffing...back ache...mum tum getting in the way, sore neck...hot and stuffy from the awkward position I was in and heat from the hair dryer...
Comparing that to sitting back and having a professional apply them I know which would win each time.
And last time I saw them on ebay, The extra cost to have them applied correctly would be worth its weight in gold lol

So thinking this way I don't think we need to worry

I am still dead excited about Minx lol, even more so after my training the other day, It kicked me right up the bum it did :green:

Yes ..........Just found another seller.
User name xxxxx
Item number xxxxx
It really is not fair.......they should be stopped.
Plus their prices are far more than we as professionals can buy them for.
x x x  x x x

it's like pop it's.. you've been able to buy replicars of these on ebay.. i have some i'm ashamed to say but my partner ordered them thinking they were the same thing and i said well it wouldn't surprise me if somehow rio bring out a version of minx.. obvs not same name as they have brought out a version of pop it's! so if they could atleast sell the one's from the different company which we know will be cack! they'll learn and train!

well i have just read all of this and seen the clip and im all for 'any publicity is good publicity' .... to an extent and can agree with that it mayboost certain salons sales in minx but what i dont agree with is the way in which it was applied and spke about. If they are going to show a professional product and service on national tv then it should be shown properly and as for the fraying after a few days( you can search to find the answers to this) and they only last 5-6 days.... im shocked its was badly performed and the public were wrongly informed i would love to know who and where they got there 'reaserch ' from :)

While the public HAVE been misinformed, we can inform them correctly,
I have been asked tonight how much we charge for a minx pedicure, I am presuming that this lady watched this morning as she then said 'I didn't realise they were foils' ( as mentioned on this morning) I said ' well they are not, they are much more than that, and waffled on in my usual manner :green:

I was replied to with a 'oooooh' ... then facebook chat froze as the stupid thing tends to do,

So we can do our best to put it right and inform 'our people' of the correct information, and as mentioned before, we can only
Make sure we are doing a top class service, so a DIY job will never compare x

And think how FABBY your clients will think you are when your minx last longer than the 5 days they heard about lol... they will recommend you even more !

Well Said Samantha. x

Jeez, get a grip. Minx is foil with glue on the back not some rocket science thingumyjig. You can heat it with infra red lamps, ordinary tunsten lamps or even pop it into your UV lamp - it still works.

Bearing in mind that Minx themselves say it's only good on finger nails for 4 to 8 days and you have to wonder exactly what the fuss about heating comes from.

On toes we've tested it and it is good for 4 weeks - that's where you need to target Minx. Wealthy businesses women who would never wear Minx on their hands, will have Minx on their toes as this is hidden except for weekends when they want to relax and be more daring.

Personally - I still think it's nail art. But on a strip which anyone can do and not of the same caliber of personalized nail art from a specialist. Used correctly though, you can earn good money with Minx if you stick to toes.

I think its brill that it will generate pulic awareness of it, only thing that confused me was Nadine said that there was a layer of glue on the top??? I don't put glue beneath or on top of mine are we meant to or had she just got it wrong ? also was a bit miffed she said that £35 in a top london salon and it would be much cheaper in other salons as its rolled out across the country......erm bit worried now as I'm charging £30
I have yet to do minx on finger nails (just been doing it on toes so far, mine lasts about 6 weeks on average) does it really only last 5-7 days on finger nails? suppose upside to this would be to offer a layer of l&p or gel on top so it lasts longer?? xx
